What is a Moderator?

Moderators are forum members that have been chosen by the forum owners and other moderators to help maintain the forum's atmosphere. They are selected based upon their helpfulness, ability to handle difficult situations tactfully, length of forum membership, overall friendliness, and ability to abide by the rules.

Moderators are volunteers, and are here to help members with technical issues as well as ensuring that Horsetopia remains a friendly place where horse owners and horse lovers can exchange information in a civilized manner.

Moderators follow a set of guidelines to make sure that members are treated fairly, and in a manner appropriate for the situation. Posts may be locked, edited, or removed, depending upon severity. Some situations which are not clear cut cases require a moderator to make a call, and in these situations, moderators will generally err on the side of caution.

Moderators and administrators have final say in all situations where a post is edited, locked or deleted. You may not delete or publicly question moderator reminders in a post you have written. However, you can always contact moderators and administrators by private message.

Moderators can be identified by their user name, and the color in which it appears.

Super Moderators handle technical issues, activate/deactivate accounts, investigate all reported posts, remove/edit/lock posts that do not fit within the rules, message members when posts are not within the forum rules, as well as handling emergency situations. Conformation Clinic/Product Reviews Moderators oversee the Conformation Clinic and Product Reviews forums, ensuring that posts are in the proper format, as well as replies following the guidelines set forth in that particular forum. They remove replies and posts that are not within the guidelines and message members when necessary.

Welcome and Introductions Moderators welcome new members by directing them to helpful topics, such as the forum rules or topics which help members create signatures and avatars. They also help members in regards to forum etiquette so that posts are easy to read and answer.
