Help with PA 4-h

Hi, this is Nicole's first year to do 4-h. Her instructor told her today she is a good contender for states in western pleasure.

She turned 14 in November so she will be a senior rider, but do they have sub-divisions within that, this is only her 2nd year of showing and her 1st year loping. We searched the rulebook and it doesn't say. Is it held like our regular NPHA show? She likes to do the all day W/J senior horse and the open W/J classes, in addition to the eq, pleasure and horsemanship classes.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know how they do horses but my daughter does rabbits. Your age as of Jan 1st is your age for the year. There are Novice classes for rabbits that you can show in if it is your 1st year showing. I would call your local county extension office.

I haven't shown 4-h for awhile. But when I did show it was simply junior rider or senior rider. I watched some english classes last year at States they were junior and senior rider or horse or pony. Good luck! 4-h is a blast.

Thanks for the quick replies, Her instructer said it was Jr. or Sr. rider, we have what they consider "practice" 4-h shows that are ran just like an open show so I thought maybe they split it up. But they can go for just one event, is that right? They can makis it in showmanship alone or just pleasure, they are treated individually.

Thanks, I'm sure we'll have a blast, she's already getting ready!

They have Jr & Sr Western or Jr & Sr Hunter.
There is a class for first year members that is W/T but it doesnt qualify for States.

Oh, thanks, I guess she'll have to work her butt off to compete with those other seniors, but she does like a challenge, lets see how it turns out.
