Here's what happened...
First off the woman made arrangements to come and see her several times before she actually got there. I thought okay, while poo happens right?
She finally got to my place she liked her, she made arrangements to pick her up a few days later.
The showed up, paid me the $300 for her in cash (so I'm not out anything) and they went on their merry way.
Three or 4 weeks past and I get an e-mail out of the blue saying that she really liked Starla and Starla's so nice BUT her alpha mare gets Starla right up against the barn and just kicks her and kicks her, so Starla was going to stay in the barn until she could work something out. I told her to fence off a few acres of her 23 acre field and throw Starla in there with a buddy but she refused.
So a day or two later I got a phone call from the crazy lady, she let Starla back out into the pasture and her alpha mare went right back to picking on her (I would throw that alaphs in teh barn if I was her, but whatever). Starla obviously had enough of this and kicked her mare and now her mare's apparently dead lame.... She was ticked right off with Starla and wanted me to buy her back. The catch was that Starla had spent 4 days in with her paint stud while she was in a raging heat (if Starla caught she's due in March). I offered her back the $300 and she agreed to that over the phone. We made arrangements to go and get her on Sunday...
Saturday night I got an e-mail stating that I would have to sign a contract saying I would pay the $150 stud fee (for a foal that I don't even want) if Starla is infact pregnant (I had planned on giving her a shot of lutalyse so the contract would have meant nothing to me). She also said that I owe her $20 for worming. Starla was HER horse when she decided to worm her! I didn't force her to throw Starla in with the stud, nor did I make her worm her.
Sunday came and went, I didn't get any directions, she also never e-mailled me or phoned me like she had said, so now I don't know what to think.
Looking back, it's like she just wanted her stud bred to outside mares. How am I to know that the alpha mare wasn't dead lame all along?
Ia slo found out we have a friend in common. He said 'she's as crooked as a dog's back leg, stay away from her.'
