Ontario Trail Ride?

I just read the post about meeting a fellow HTer...

I have been thinking lately that a HT trail ride would be fun.

There is a place in Priceville that has awesome trails and they also have little bunkies that you can rent if you want to camp out. You can bring your own horses or ride theirs. They have a website if anyone is interested - the place is called Whinney Acres.

The ride doesn't have to be there but we had a lot of fun there last year and plan to go again next summer.

Anyone interested?

I think that is the place where some friend's of KathyK and mine went to this summer. They had a good time.

Would be fun, hard part is quite simply the SIZE of Ontario, it would be tough to find a spot that is central to everyone or at least to the majority

Distance could definitely be a factor. Where is Priceville?

Thanks, QCG!! I guess I could've done that just as easily....but now you've saved time for all of us.

Priceville seems OK for those in SW ONtario. What other riding trails are there in the province?

We have an abandoned rail trail that we can get to from our property through the fields but technically the part near us is marked no trespassing and the public trail portion doesn't allow motorized vehicles or HORSES

I do sneak out there from time to time wiht Turtle...but it'd be a little conspicuous in a group.

Priceville is doable for us ~ about 1.5 hours away. BUt I couldn't find their website?

There is also Dundas Conservation ~ gorgeous trails and lots of trailer parking.

It would be great to find a central point and meet for a ride...or groups closer to each other could form a ride then share experience on HT if we all could not get together...just a thought!

Although I can't join you, as I AM TOO FAR AWAY, I thought this might be a good idea.

Pick a place like Winney Acres, book a long week-end in the summer to use the horses that they provide, and everyone meet up for a mini vacation/trail ride together. Then, it won't be any different to going to a far distance place for any other kind of holiday/getaway. They have small cabins, so you can share the accomodation which will cut down some of the costs.

Then I can enjoy reading about what a great time you all had. AND be jealous!!!!!

Weeeeelllll technically Sudbury IS considered to be located in CENTRAL Ontario. Just a thought.....

I got lots of land for tents, 2 bathrooms so no one has to fight, a big house if it rains, 11 stalls for horses and a whole wack of trails that lead to everywhere

I would love to do that but sadly one too far from priceville and 2 my horse isn't even broke yet and wont be for atleast another year lol...unless ofcourse I move Malachi in the summer to Steve Carters for 180 a month then I could afford to have another horse or two lol.

I have no trailer either, but I am looking for a reason to finally have to give in and buy one.

I almost convinced hubby to take Sasha down to the CanAm in London in March but by the time I finally went to make arrangements, we found out the stalls are all booked. The Gypsy Vanner club is doing the breed demo there.

I do have a used trailer I am eyeing anyways.

Ooooh, I'm going to miss that this year as I now live on Vancouver Island. KathyK and I used to go to this every year.

Hmmm Paso Lover, l am in Bracebridge, so about 3 hours, your place and trails sound awfully tempting, as for those without horses, or horses not yet ready, some of us have more than one horse

ahh even though Whinney acres is a long distance from me.. I would go.. Doug ( trail guide there) is one of my close friends.. and his horse ( Rose) was raised and trained by me and he fell in lovewith her when he worked for me... so when i had to let her go... he was the first choice... We would all have sooo much fun. They ahve some fantastic trails I am told
