Jo, I understand your feelings about your daughter's move. My third, and youngest daughter, moved to South Carolina last week. I'm not happy about this, as I don't think it was good judgement; but not my decision. I DO want her to be happy; I just don't think this move will cause that to happen for her.

She left a good full time position at a bank, health care benefits, her own apartment and went with a few thousand dollars to an unfamiliar place, knowing no one with no place to work. She did have a studio rented as a temporary place to live.

I know she needs to figure this out for herself; she just doesn't seem to be happy no matter where she goes.

I don't know what to expect.
I've only heard good things about them. An old neighbor took a work horse foal for leg surgery and they were able to save the horse only for it to have an accident at the farm. I guess the horse slipped in the wet mud and undid the surgical procedure. The vet was called to put the horse down only when the vet got there he didn't have enough med to euthanize. The farmer took that as a sign and miraculously the horse pulled through, healed and is still alive to this day. That was well over ten years ago.

A friend took a sick parrot to Cornell. They did a blood transfusion and saved the parrot. That was closer to twenty years ago.

Whenever I hear them mentioned it's with a positive tone so they must have a good reputation. So what is he going for? Let us know how Tex is.

I got my baby!!! Now I'm a worried mom. Do I have what it takes to raise her up right. I mean I'm starting from scratch. She's not even broke to lead. I worry more about her diet than her training. She's so young. Only 4 months old. I have my mini gelding keeping her company as she is frightened of everything. I just hope he doesn't teach her his bad habits.

I've heard nothing but good things too. I was just debating on prices between Cornell and Ledgewood Equine Clinic, but I think Cornell is the better choice. Tex is going to get his stifle looked at. He goes lame every so often and I'm almost certain it's the stifle, but I'll finally know when he goes to Cornell. He might even need surgery for all I know, I just want him better.

Also, that little appy filly is gorgeous, I hope she does well for you.

Tex won't be going for another two weeks. In the meantime he's in a very small pasture with my uncle's horse and he's perfectly fine. I hope on that note Cornell will say he just needs to take it easy and stall rest and surgery won't be required.

I love this little filly. She's got the cutest trot. I'll have to try and get a video this weekend. Her name is Galaxy and they were calling her Gal. My granddaughter is thinking on a new name for her. She hasn't come up with one yet that we all can agree on. So for now I call her my little gal.

Korven Kuningas I'll be praying that Tex won't need surgery.

Well, I'm pretty bummed. The lady that was going to give my horse a ride to Cornell apparently isn't now so I have no way to take Tex to the vet. I'm pretty bummed out. I was hoping to get him all straightened out.

I had a day off set up too, this sucks.

KK put an ad on craigs list, perhaps there is someone that will do it for you, might pay to buy your own and when not in use, keep hay in it. I know alot of people this way that have trailers,
Farmer, that is a cutie and I love her name,

Hey Korven...I haven't been on in a while, but I just found your post. I've dealt with Cornell, and they are FANTASTIC! My friend just had surgery done on her Shire gelding, and she had a wonderful experience. Don't worry, they are VERY professional, and you should have no trouble at all. Just don't be afraid to really ask questions, and get answers. I mean, you may sometimes have to really bug them to get results and stuff like that. They are very busy, and will get back to you, it just seems like a long time when your waiting for results...probably not long at all, just seems that way.

Good luck, I hope things work out, I know you have been struggling with Tex since you got him.. I hope he's okay.

Amy
