Jo, I just read this about your dad. What you are going through is tough. Just want to tell you I'm thinking of you.

I don't get on here as much as before as I'm at horse appointments most every day and at horse events each weekend.

Sad news, my step dad passed away last night. He is at peace and pain free now. My mom feels horrible as she said "I'm finally free" as he drew his last breath. We told her it was natural for her to feel that way and it was only coming from the stress she has had these past few months. We know that she loved him. They were married for 38 years. The child in me hopes that my parents will get back together but the adult knows it's not possible. My dad lost his wife, my step mom back in November last year. They were married for 40 years. In his grief he has latched onto another woman that I have yet to meet. The ironic thing is she is related to my step dad.

My dad is heading out to Oklahoma today with his sis. He's driving her out so she can see her son as he is terminally ill. Say a prayer for a safe journey and that they get there in time for her to tell him goodbye.

My daughter is still walking on the edge but she now has a job. She never did get any counseling. Everyone is in shock. Just another one that falls through the cracks I guess. I told her she's got to learn to lift herself up by her boot straps and climb on that pony by herself (figuratively speaking). Mom and dad aren't always going to be there to do it for her.

I wanta vent, can I? My sis-in-law just got married to a creep she's known for 7 weeks! She's mad that I told the kids he's a pedophile. She told me she wouldn't have him around my kids. That was a big fat lie. She picked the kids up for church yesterday and took them out for ice cream with her new hubby in tow. My son agrees with me that he's a creep. (An opinion he formed himself.) My granddaughter doesn't understand why everyone but her aunt says she's not to hug and kiss him. I think SIL is in denial. NOT ONE of his relation was at the wedding. What does that tell you?

I lost a kitten a few days ago. Well I found it yesterday. Poor thing. It was healthy so I'm thinking one of my Tom cats might have had something to do with it.

We went to our local fair. I didn't get to go through the animal barns. I heard rumor that they were almost empty. The fair isn't what it used to be. We were even disappointed in the rides. A carny singled out my granddaughter and yelled at her about the rules of the ride. (She wasn't misbehaving.) It ruined the fun for her and she refused to go on the ride again. I think the man needed a cigarette as he was cranky.

I traded my Hackney pony mare for 4 goats. Hopefully it was a good trade. The man and his son were happy. My husband is happy. Funny story....the mans 12 year old son is autistic. His son keeps climbing in our truck and I'm trying to politely get him out as he is fascinated with hubby's radar detector. Then he climbs behind the wheel just as his dad pulls him from the truck. I breath a sigh of relief when I notice the keys aren't in the ignition. All of a sudden panic attacks hubby as he says he left the keys in the truck. Minutes later I found them on the floorboard in the back seat. I thought for a moment there that we were walking home.

Judy , sorry about your step dad.
your daughter will be fine. just keep telling her to be strong. and she need to learn to be an adult, one way or another.
Hopefully all will be well with your dad.
Hugs to you and what you are going thru.
Just keep you and your family safe, and yes the trade was a good one.
As for fairs, I have not gone to one either. and they are not the same, very expensive and commercial.

PM me if you need to.

My dad and aunt made it back home safe. She was happy that she got to visit with her son one last time.

My mother couldn't afford a funeral for my step dad. So we had a graveside service and there will be a memorial service at the legion tomorrow.

Got my new goats wormed and vaccinated. I'll have to get a pic of them. The little guy is so tiny! And the girls are huge!

My granddaughter is all excited and looking forward to going back to school. This can mean only one thing and that is summer is over.

All three of my mini mares came back into heat. So much for Monty being a daddy. I just put the last mare in with the new stud. Cross your fingers that he has what it takes to get the job done.

Hubby disc-ed one of my pastures, limed and seeded it yesterday. I hope it grows.

Thanks Jo for being such a good friend and listener. PM's work both ways. I'm here for you too. And anyone else.

Yes it is the end of the summer, and kids going back to school. My dad is doing ok, just need to have him get a little stronger and bring him home.
Hopefully your new stud will get the job done. poor montey He is cute but sometimes cute is not enough.
Hubby bought me a new laptop it is 10 inches long and I am hitting every key but the right one, If I were to take a typing test I would fail,
Well off the HT and FB and my farm on farmville.

hi everyone. Been a while since I've posted. I am LOVING the cooler weather, except that I don't want to get out of my cozy warm bed in the am!

We have been in NY a lot lately. Whenever I see horses I wonder if they are an HT member! lol

Bought a new trailer in Plattsburgh, went roping twice in Fort Plain, and will be going roping in Campbell next weekend, at the Osburne Arena.

I was dissapointed at how sore I was just from warming indio up for Jon last weekend! I am SO out of shape.

Still trying to sell Josie. She is so good I really will hate to see her leave, but we have some big plans for Tanner/Copper.

Very sorry to hear about your step-dad. I totally understand how your mom was feeling relieved though in some ways. It is stressful and sad to see someone suffering and not themselves.

We seem to have lost a few New Yorkers, and on the threads. the for sale list has been taken down.
So if anyone has something to sell or wish to buy please post. I will start one in the next few days as soon as I have some time.
Not to much going on around here. just getting ready for winter,
Also others please post just to let us know that you are still with us.

Jo

Me too, I'm still here, just busy same as everyone else. I FINALLY picked up a truck so now I'll actually be able to pull that trailer that's been hogging up my drive way all summer(hehe). Its a 95 ford f250, only 80,000 miles on it and runs strong. It's used but in good shape, I like it. I need to study up on hauling. I've never done it myself before. I've heard so many horror stories, they have got me paranoid!! Well that's all for now. Hope everyone is well and enjoying this beautiful fall weather.

You should have PM'd me. I would have gone up to watch you. Or at least waved as you drove by my house. So did you have a good time at the Osburne indoor arena?

I traded my Hackney mare for some goats and sold my miniature stallion. Now I'm looking to trade a calf for a POA filly. Still waiting to hear word if the lady wants to do that.

Well I'm off to rake hay. Yep still trying to get it in before winter. I hear tell it's going to rain today. Figures as I haven't gotten a cutting this year that didn't get wet before I could get it in.

Thanks...my mom is doing OK it's good that she lives next to my sis. Sis has been keeping her busy or should I say the grandkids have.

Just keeping this open and on the forum. not much going on. just getting ready for winter. Daughter moving to Willmington North Carolina by the end of the month, I am not happy with this but she needs to start over somewhere and make a new life for herself, the old one is not going anywhere and no advancement in her job so perhaps she will be fine.
anyone going to the equine affair in mass this year.?

I haven't been able to get on horsetopia for like two weeks, the site wouldn't work for me.

How has everyone been? I'm not ready for this cold winter stuff, I keep hearing this winter is gonna be a doozy.

Has anyone in here had any dealings with Cornell University? If so, how were they? I'm taking Tex there instead of Ledgewood Equine Clinic next month and I'm pretty nervous. I've never had to take a horse for x-rays or possibly surgery or anything like that.

I don't know what to expect.
