Those poor babies. Animals depend on us to take care of them and keep them safe and healthy. I hate it when this doesn't happen.

How horrible. How can people be so heartless. At least they are safe now.

Honestly how the he!! does any one have 82 horses, and let this progress to this state is unbelievable. How sad. I'm going to give them a donation, It wont be all that much but I'm sure it will help. How come they couldn't do something sooner, I mean it not like that happened overnight. A bunch of horses were just seized in my area from a farm that i didn't even know existed, I read about it in the Troy Record about a month ago. It's to the point where I am afraid to sell my horse because I'm so afraid that she'll end up in a horrible situation like that. And I've gone back and forth over this for the past 2 years, crazy I know, but it's just so bad. I guess I'm just so disgusted, sorry I didn't mean to vent so much.

Hello Bayrider.
I also take in rescues but I have sent a donation.
It sometimes gets beyond anyones controll. Just taking in more and more until with ones that are there suffer.
I have turned down many horses, just for the sake of feeding the ones I have here.
As for selling. It is a chance everyone takes , We pray that the horse is taken care of, but once out of site and our control we have no way of knowing,
I still think of our first foal that would be 15 now, lost track of her 8 years ago.
but we move one and provide the best we can to the horses we have.

Are you planning on going to theEquine Affair.in Springfield Mass.?,
Thread on that in NY forum. If you need web site let me know .

I understand and completely agree with you, I tend to let my emotions get the best of me(got to working on that). You know i went to green county and saw Butch and got our TWH (the mare I was talking about) a new saddle. Fits her great. He's a nice guy. thanks for setting me up with him. But don't you know it, we(sis and I)got a few good rides and than Lady tripped and Britt(sister) goes flying and breaks her arm!! Huge bummer, now she's the 2nd person to get hurt riding this horse I was the 1st of course. I think she's just a little to much for us to handle. Anyway back to you're ? I do want to go, I have for the past 4 years but with eveything going on I may not. But I really want to. I saw that you guys were going to meet. I think thats great, if I go maybe I can meet you to. we'll see(fingers crossed).

You should have called, or had butch tell you where I live and you could have come to vist I am 3 miles from his place.
Sorry about the arm,.
Did your mare trip? or was there something else that happened.
I am sure from where you are It would involve perhaps an over night.
Or long drive to and home again.
Keep in touch.

Only 3 miles, it's beautiful there. I love all the green rolling hills. Yeah she tripped it was a freak accident I guess. I'm going to have the vet come out and check her out. I saw her trip once in the pasture to so I think maybe she having some changes. But when she fell she went down on both knees and Britt tumbled over the top of her and fell in to the fence and some how twisted her arm and it broke, it was crazy how it happened.

When you have the vet come out, please check for lyme, it is a common thing for horses in this area to come down with it.
Tripping is a sympton, Who is your vet.?
I use ECO from Ravena, if you are outside Albany they will come to you too.
Good luck keep me posted.

Oh wow... thanks, I never even thought about Lymes Disease, I'll have her tested for sure. I use Dr Lee Delaney from Shaftsbury, VT. He's been my vet for the last 5 yrs. He's a good guy. I didn't realize that that tripping was a symptom, as soon as I can I'll have him out. I just started my new job, night shift, so as soon as I get in a routine and paid (of coarse) i'll give him a call.
