Saddle Issues..

Ugh. I'm trying to sell my 17" Close Contact Henri de Rivel saddle. Pictures have been posted, and it's in excellent condition. What I've been told by an HDR dealer is that it's one of the first models where they were made with exceptional french leather and were 'nicer'. Regardless, I don't know how to sell it. eBay was recommended. Any other ideas?

Also, I'm really really needing either another CC saddle or even better, an Event saddle! Same 17" size, nice brand. (ie: Pessoa, Crosby, County, Collegiate, Bates, Barnsby, etc..) Bella's withers are thicker, so I need at least a MW tree, W tree, or adjustable. Anyone have anything or know where I can look?

caitlin, if you haven't already done so, leave an ad at your local tack stores. Some have bulletin boards for that purpose.

Have you considered a treeless saddle? They are very comfortable for rider and horse, fitting most horses.

Ahlihaff, I am interested in a treeless saddle, but don't know much about them. I have a belgian gelding with fairly wide withers, and have been reading recently on how to really get a good fit dfor your horse. Do you have experience with treeless saddles? Do you think that "one size fits all"? I am using a draft size western saddle now, but I don't think it fits Jade very well. What do you think?

Jadelover, I use a Bob Marshall treeless saddle. I LOVE it. I used it on my big Paint and now on my Haflinger and on my husband's Appy as well as a couple of other breeds/body types. It fit them all comfortably.

You can check them out at www.equivisionsfarm.com. The woman (Cheryl) there is very helpful.

I'll attach a photo of mine on my Haffie. The blanket is crooked, but you can get a good idea of the saddle.

The saddle for Caitlin is under tack and equipment, page 2," saddle worth".
I do not know how to bring up exact link.

My saddle got sold, actually, just shipped out today. Now I'm looking at either a Medium and readjusting, or Wide Crosby Sofride, or an adjustable Bates Caprilli saddle. I don't know which to go with!!

I can get the Medium Crosby Sofride for $950 with everything (retails $2500) and get it adjusted specifically to Bella ($250)

or, I can buy a used Crosby Sofride with some typical wear already in a Wide for $1040,

or, I have a used condition Bates Caprilli adjustable gullet saddle I can buy with all wide changers for $1015.

Opinions?

Good for you selling the saddle.
They are all in the same price range. Go with what feels good. and in your budget. Personally I prefer Crosby. but since you have the bates why don't you use that?
