Hello NC/SC tells us more about your area?

Hi eveyone..
Just poping in to say hello.. You guys seem kind of quiet so I thought maybe you could tell us what it is you like about your area.
Favorite places to trailride?
What would be some neat places for some of us HT'ers to check out?
What's you favorite thing about living in your area?
What's you least favorite thing..
And feel free to add any other info.
Thanks.

Well, I haven't done a lot of trail riding -- #1 because I don't have a trailer, #2 because I haven't had the "right" horse, and #3 because my boy is just a baby! But you can believe we'll be hittin' the trails this summer!

Pinecliffs is a FABULOUS place to ride! It's between Beaufort, NC and Havelock, NC on Hwy 101.

The beach is another favorite of mine! In fact, my fiance and I took the horses to the beach one afternoon; something we rarely do. And actually got engaged on the beach, on the horses! :-D

I've only been trailriding once in NC. I Only get to visit my beasties twice a year and there always seems to a major project for me when I get there. We went to South Mountain to ride. It was a big change for this Florida girl I'll tell ya. IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!! I've never been so sore and so happy at the same time. Streams to cross, a waterfall, and all those ups and downs, I was in heaven. I'm not even really sure where it is exactly but fairly close to Shelby, NC. It's a big park. Other than that My Mom's place is close to Tryon and Columbus. There is a big equestrian facility over that way called F.E.N.C.E. They put on quite a few shows over there.

Western NC rocks :)

Well I can't say enough good about where we live!

There are some great places to trail around here, and I am lucky enough to be attached to two of them.

One is the stable where I board. The land shares a boundary with Pisgah Nat'l Forest and there are many many miles of established horse trails. From one vantage point we can clearly see all the way to the Biltmore House!

The other is on the Biltmore Estate itself. Not many people know that it's possible to trail ride on the estate. Now, it's not cheap in the least, but you can get passes to bring your horses and even camp for a couple of days and ride. My son and I are both in the lesson program at the Equestrian Center and have had the chance to ride the trails...heaven on earth. The family that owns the property are mostly horse folks too and all amazingly nice people...you'd never know without being told "who" they are

So, I don't have to even leave my barn to ride all day long...if only the weather would cooperate. To heck with my jobs and my classes...I want to spend the rest of my life on the trails!!

There are lots of other places around here too, where you can trailer in and ride on incredible trails.

I'm lucky because I live in an area where it's still possible to ride backroads, the powerlines and timber trails located here and there throughout my home county, Chatham. However, I gotta ad, that's changing. Lots of development lately. And as you all know, when the population density increases in an area, horse ownership isn't as easy as it once was. discouraged.

We have a place 6 miles Sylva side of Cherokee. Love that area, but haven't really found any place to actually ride. I am sure that We can ride the roads when the cabin is located, but really not sure of the narrow roads and traffic. I would love to find trails not far from where our place is..
