Hi, need advice

about North Carolina! We are considering moving to North Carolina. We want 100+ acres for horses & cattle I have the following questions:

-My concerns are the tornadoes. Am I being silly to be so worried about them?

-We want to stay with the warm climate (no snow/freezing cold winters)

any advice as to where there are rural/large farming communities that fall into what we would be looking for?

Thanks!

Lightbulb Thermal belt

Your list of likes and dislikes probably limit you to the thermal belt.

Look on the map for 'Tryon, NC'. If I recall correctly,
Tryon is dead center within the thermal belt. Please be prepared for high
real estate prices. Lots of rich people don't like the threats of ice, snow, or tornados either. It's even a bit cooler in the summer compared to the surrounding area. Even though there are lots of wide open spaces, nice looking horses and cattle in manicured pastures and barns, this area is not exactly what I'd call a farming community. It's not workmanlike at all. Gentlemen farmers tend to be the rule rather than the exception.

Another part of NC which might meet your critera is on the other end of the state... on the east coast... particularly the southern part right above and around Wilmington, which is subtropical. Once in a blue moon, temps will dip below freezing. Unfortunately, hurricanes are problems on the coastline.

It couldn't hurt and would probably help contacting the NC Department of Agriculture to aid you in your quest for information.

I hope this helps.
