St. Joe WARNING!!!!

No Joke, this is a St. Joe warning…

My daughter and I rode on Sunday at St. Joe.

I ended up with probably 100+ bug bites. I don't know if they are chiggers, seed ticks, or what at this point. All I know is that I've got 7 bites on the back of my left hand and more than I can count around my waist.

I do know that whatever it was that we got into is also bothering the horses. They have just about got the hair chewed off of their front legs from the knees down.

SO, If you happen to end up down there or know someone that is going please please please warn them to take a bath in bug repelant before they go, then take another bath as often as possible. And don't forget your equine partner.

oh eeeek Ike! Thanks for that warning. Remember the day of the St Jude ride how bad the ticks were? yuck!! Sorry to hear you guys got all chewed up!
The skeeters are terrible this year with all the standing water around.

Happy scratching.

Damien went with my stepdad to put his camera in the woods (deer season is coming soon) and came home with his ankle chewed up by chiggers. The washed it off and put meds on but it still looked horrible. Here it is three days later and his ankle looks terrible! It actually has some blisters mixed in with all the bites. I'm giving it a little longer and if the redness and swelling doesn't go down, he's headed to the doctor.

We have a ton of ticks here too, seed ticks! Those little things are everywhere.

Scrapchick,
Oh yeah, I remember the ticks from the St. Jude ride well. I've got several bite marks from that ride that are still healing.

I guess it would make sense if it was seed ticks that got us this time, so many adults would surely produce tons of little ones.
