A home for Harry - a bomb proof pony
We are looking for a home for Harry. We bought him back in the winter for my 9 yr old daughter. She was always great on the ground with the horses, but very timid in the saddle. Well Harry solved that problem and now she is ready to go on to her other pony.
I am contacting a handicapped riding center near us to see if they can use Harry first as we think that would be a perfect match for him, getting to be used and see the kids but not anything strenuous. If they are not interested in Harry he will be for sale. He won't be very expensive, but it must be a forever home that knows how and is able to take care of an old pony. We don't know how old Harry is for sure, the vet just says old, so we are guessing atleast mid to late 20's. Harry is a people pony. He loves to be ridden and messed with. He is still very alert and happy go lucky...he's just old. Other than being old and thin, he is sound as far as legs, feet, movement, etc. His teeth are short, but they are in good shape and he eats very well. He has never been sick while he has been here. He came to us very thin, he has gained some weight, but needs more. Harry also needs to be body clipped as he has very thick hair and does not shed well. Harry will only go as fast as you ask him to, and never more than a trot, no matter how hard you kick. Most of the time he just walks, but he does have a gait to him like a running walk or kind of a pace that is very smooth but if asked he will trot also. We have hauled him to the sortings and my daughter can team sort calves on him. He is great around the other horses and nothing fazes him. We have grown very fond of Harry and everyone that meets him adores him. He has a personality all his own. A good home is a must. If anyone is interested in him let me know. I don't have a picture right now, but I will get one in the next couple of days.
