Longmeadow rescue ranch will take this horse in a heartbeat.

I've written the administrator with the phone number.

That just makes me so sad to hear that. I wish I could take it. If I had the room, I would. Seems like anything is better than what he has. My heart goes out to the poor baby.

Let's hope Longmeadow can give a hand here. I do love the paints, but we just sold our latest rescue...she filled out nice...she was a bit stunted so the new owners have agreed to hold off on saddle work until she's 4. We check on her every weekend, as the friends we sold her to are our launching spot to get into Cuivre River state park the back way.

WalkNJake,
We are in somewhat of the same boat. We recently bought a TWH who had been, from what I can tell, abused pretty severely by a man. He was then "rescued" and retrained. The retraining appears to be pretty good but he was then sold to someone that was well over their head with him. Fortunately they figured it out pretty quick and we bought him.

He'll walk to my daughter as soon as he sees her with ears up and happy. He'll walk to me now but still crabby looking and with ears back. Even this is a huge improvement from where we started from.

It does take time with the ones who have learned not to trust. Grooming is the key...if I don't do anything at all for a year but share breath, scratch and groom, I figure I'm doing myself and the horse some good.

If I need a shortcut, I'll lay a horse down...it changes their heart pretty quickly, but I don't do it willy nilly or for no good reason.
