Looking for a horse...

I'm reaching out for the help of the local HT'ians. I'm looking for a well broke horse, prefer a mare, around 15 hands or so. He would like a nice QH or Paint, but I've found him looking at some Appy's. Not to picky on color, although he has his favorites. The kicker is, we can't spend a fortune on it. I'm wanting something broke enough for my fiance to feel comfortable on and for his girls to ride around every other weekend. Any ideas?

Well...we do have Lena posted on this website for sale...she is currently at the trainer for refining. He's a Performance Horse trainer and is doing pretty good with her. We went out to visit last night and she is very nicely collected, low headset, good brakes, and is doing well off the left lead...not so well on the right yet, but he's working her.

She's doing a good sliding reining stop, and is also able to rollback and spin...she's 14.3 hands and all cutting horse bloodlines. We asked for the following:

1. Good brakes (awesome)
2. Disposition eval (very good)
3. Gait transitions (doing very well)
4. Athletic condition (looks great)

Joe surprised us by bringing Lena to the park last Sunday while we were out riding the QH's. Lena was doing well, and got a good couple of hours on her in a trail setting as well. I've had her out there before...she really enjoys being out on the trails.

Check out this site they have really nice horses for sale!
They said they would be adding several more horses by next weekend, they're not traders and they don't buy from sale barns/auctions.

Enelson, I think that is a good idea for you to get a older horse for your Fiance and his girls . Start them out with a well broke calm horse. Good luck hon.

Yeah, the first horse I bought him a few years ago...well she turned out to be a womans/kids horse. She refused to do what he asked. We sold her for 1/3 of what we paid to his ex-wife for his kids. (She turned around and sold her for 2x what we paid, without offering us first buy option!!) The second he found himself and she was a nut job project horse that we didn't get anywhere with. I'm hoping something older, broke, and calm will work. He loves horses so much and just wants one of his own.

We excel at buying horses. We have no skills in selling them. We have many good horses. But we love them all, and cannot part with a one...we are ill.

Oh I understand that hon. (ex wives..grrrr lol) but really he needs to find one that HE clicks with. It is just something you know when you connect with that special horse. Just my own experience talking , sorry. That will make his confidence build and he might expand and really , really get into having horses. My friend loves horses. He fiance , not so much, until he brought one we had. He was trying to buy it for a long time for color. I said, "you don't buy for color, you buy for disposition". She had a good one, but I didn't want him to buy for color but he would come over and love on her and feed her and he showed so much interest. He is so into that horse. I know she is taken very good care of. Ok sorry, hope you find the right horse for him hon.
