Wind, rain, flash floods, tornados

We ex-Floridians didnt sit home today. We headed down to Clarksville to check on a job and over to Wal Mart.

While in Wal Mart, I decided to get my hair trimmed.
While sitting there at the beauty shop, they started talking about a tornado touching down in Ozark and heading to Clarksville.

Everyone was on alert and talking that they will come over the loud speaker advising everyone to the center of the store.
Ok, I still sit there calmly.

Doug was waiting on me and I asked him to go get my phone out of the truck and call Kat and make sure they are alright.
He couldnt go for it was raining to hard.

I get done and head to go out and people were standing around just looking. Doug had to go get the truck and then come get me it was raining so hard and the sky black.

I get in the truck and called Kat.
She asked where are you?
I said just left Wal Mart.
She said find some where and take cover. I said why. She told me that the tornado was S. of the interstate, heading towards Clarksville.
We were at the interstate.
We start over the over pass heading into Clarksville and look to my left and told Doug, O MY GAWD. It was a hugh funnel looking cloud off in the distance.
We turned off and went into the Chevy dealer where everone was outside watching.
It was a short time when it went up and turned back into sky clouds.

Kat said people were pulling off on the interstate and getting under the bridges and over passes.
She was watching the news and that Clarksville had sounded their siren. She told me that her and her Mom were in Ozark when they had to take shelter.

We waited about 30 min. and headed home.

Its still real bad up here with the lightning and rain, with flash floods.

I got some pics, but not of the tornado. I was to freaked to worry about a camera.
Next time, I stay home.

This is my pasture.
Starts on top of the mountain thats the back pasture and runs down to the road through the pastures.

This is the river we cross over while going up the mountain.

Glad to hear that you're all okay though. I did wonder since it all came up through Texas.

I'm getting swamped - this is ridiculous.

I'm afraid my dam will breach and I will loose the pond.

I hadn't heard about the tornado - that's all we need - another one...

My dam has already been breached.

I also heard two tornados in Alma.
I dont think they stayed down long.

Peoples cell phones were ringing off with calls coming in, at Wal Mart.

Its flooding here still to. As in rain.

I had to trust my little Honda Fit to get me across several low water crossings with water over the road today. I think we're in the 5-7 inches of rain range. It's been raining nonstop for 48 hours here.

We've had thunder and lightning, but nothing severe.

So much for me planning to seed my yard this week.

It took me over 2 hours to get to work this morning...

Left home, drove 12 miles, and encountered a freaking river going across the highway, had to turn around, go all the way back and take a long way around.

My normal 65 mile commute turned into 110 miles...

I was sitting in class yesterday when two women in my class saw a funnel going down the interstate. That was 10 minutes after I got off the interstate. I think my "pond" (my front yard) has turned into a lake.

I just got off the phone with my mom in Lawrence County, AR. She says it looks just like it did in 1982. US 62 & US 63 are both closed. Spring River is at more than twice it's flood stage and it hasn't crested yet.

I'm glad it's about over with, now our eastern friends have to deal with it. Today the sun is shining and it's about 60. My horses are literally knee-deep in mud. They can barely move and I have no other place to put them to get them out of it. Cisco had his neck against Kiss' butt pushing trying to free his hind legs. She had her ears pinned and this look on her face "if I could pick up my feet to kick you I would".

yep... it washed away my brand new drive way... $600 dollars I got to drive on for about a week and now I'm left with one bare shiney culvert where my driveway used to be.... *sigh* one step ahead, two steps back

Aw, Cascy, I'm sorry for that. Look on the bright side - at least it left the culvert. We don't have much gravel left in our lower drive either. I think it's in the lake across the street.

We got our driveway back! All the gravel had sank in the mud from all the snow freezing and thawing, well the rain washed all the mud away and the gravel is back. This is a driveway we put in several years ago with big 2 inch rock and my husband drove a loaded semi across it for a few years and we go in and out every day...we have never had a problem with it until this year. We got almost 7 inches of rain. Tuesday was a pain for the school buses and they canceled school on Wednesday.

Gee, Snickers, I believe it. There's a definite "nip" in the air today. Thick overcast, breezy, just feels wintery.
