St. Jude's Charity Trail Ride...DATE CHANGE!!!

My favorite local feed store is sponsoring a first annual charity trail ride for St. Jude's on April 26th in Farmington, Mo. I don't really have many details yet but will soon. It would be great if some of the HT group could be there! I will post details as I get them in case anyone is interested.

Also, any suggestions for raising money would be great. If you cant post to this regional thread, pm me if you have any ideas. I thought there was a charity ride idea thread somewhere on here but I can't find it.
Anyway, all ideas accepted! We are thinking a poker ride or 50/50 raffle....I volunteered to help since I have so many brilliant minds available to me here!

What about getting sponsors for your ride like you do with walk-a-thons or math-a-thons......thoughts?

No ideas?? Nothing? Nada? Zip? Zilch?

Calicocalgirl came up with some dandy helpful hints today....Horses&Soccer admits she is clueless but I know she is there for moral support in the process....surely some of you have been to a charity trail ride and can offer poor creatively-challenged me some suggestions?

Gosh I hate when I am the only one that posts to my threads.
No love for Scrappy from the ht pals today, boohoo.

Well, now, I may be clueless, but you have to admit I'm good for a laugh Get the Pepsi out of your keyboard yet? I for one would love to come! I PM'd you with what few ideas I have then. Add a white elephant sale to that list, an auction, heck . The only fundraisers I've ever been involved in are Girl Scout cookies and they sell themselves.

They do a poker ride in Stillwater every year, I know it's pretty successful. I honestly have no ideas. I'm absolutely no good at this kind of thing!

Thank you girls for answering, I feel loved now.
Yes H&S I have cleaned up the pepsi you made me snort through my nose, thanks for that.

I think we are going to do rider sponsorships. There are 15 miles of trails, so if everyone got a few sponsors at oh, $0.30 or $0.50 or even $1.00 per mile, it would add up. I am going to get some Cardinals tickets donated and we may do a silent auction. Calicocalgirl suggested things like prizes for oldest horse, oldest rider, youngest rider, etc, which sounds fun. Im going to contact Anheuser Busch and see if they will donate anything, and the local country stations might give up some goods. Need other fun stuff to do.

Ohh yeah, silent auctions are good too. We did one of those for the Aggie club at school. It was very successful. You could do horsey stuff, that would do well I think.

Those prizes are neat ideas too.

Oh you reminded me! My sons high school required all seniors to have 100 service hours to graduate. Maybe I will call them and get some volunteers, I know most of the seniors are scrambling to get service hours and most dread the food pantry and nursing homes. I bet I could get a ton of good catholic high school seniors to volunteer! Thanks for mentioning school, Roberts!

Haha, no problem, well we did a slave auction too. They had all those college boys doing all kinds of stuff. You could really put them to work then.

That, my friend, is a brilliant idea. Auction off the unsuspecting high school slaves. Hopefully they are more useful than the one I gave birth to. ha.

No ideas but it sounds like fun if we can get a babysitter.

Hi,

I have put on St. Jude benefit trail rides for the last 7 yrs. They are great.

St. Jude will supply you with donations forms. They do it based on a 10 mile ride and you get people to sponsor you. People can donate a flat fee or donate for each mile

So if I want to donate $5 per mile that would be $50. They give away prizes also to each person depending on how much money you raise. They give away shirts, sweat shirts, backpacks, hats, etc..

It really is a great cause and a lot of fun.

We always have an auction with ours. Every person brings something to auction off and we collect from local stores. We always raise a lot money that way.

GOOD LUCK. If you need any more help PM me.

Sweet! Thanks for the info! It isnt until April 26th so we are starting well in advance getting volunteers lined up and items donated. I'm hoping to have lots of stuff to auction off by then.

I will pm you if I have a list of questions, which I can guarantee I will....

So I am guessing it will be at St Joe Park? I'm sure you will have several locals from this area going. Many people like to ride there. It is about 30 minutes from us.
