Exclamation Belgian needs rescued

OK, I know we are not supposed to try to sell anything here so mods if you need to snip this I understand....but

I just heard that the local YMCA let a couple of their belgians go. They were sent to a guy that sent them to the local auction. They will sell tomorrow night if no one buys them first. If they are sold at the auction they will most likely go to one of the killer buyers (even though the killer plants are closed in the US local buyers are still buying). I know these two have been well taken care of. The mare is in her late teens/early twenties, around 16 hands, fat and healthy. I think the other is a gelding, he is about the same age, same condition, EXCEPT he only has one eye. They were used to pull a wagon and should also be broke to ride. He said he would be happy to sell them to an individual before the sale (he is a great guy, but realisticly he doesn't need a Belgian nor do most folks locally) but if no one takes them he will likely go ahead and sell them there. PM me if anyone is interested in them.

Lopintoo - there is a matched pair of Belgians in the kill buyers' lot in Jonesburg. They are beautiful, not skinny or anything. It has to be the same ones, a mare and a gelding. Isn't there anybody?? I board and just added another to my board today, I can't afford to take them. My daughter insists on driving past his lot everytime she goes to the barn, I can't stand it, it breaks my heart.

I am trying to get a hold of Lopintoo

I have talked with her and I was going to get back to her after I talked with the husband. I just PM'd her to see if they sold. I would be willing to take them and give them a home. I can't stand the fact of them being killed. If you hear anything let me know. I am in Georgia but I could find them a ride home pretty easy.

How far is Jonesboro from Springfield?
How old are the horses?
Do you know how much he wants for them?

Never mind the last post, I've received specific instructions that in no way am I allowed to get involved.

However, if someone on this forum does end up getting them, I may be able to donate something to help, if it's needed....let me know.

I got a hold of the buyer. He wants $1000 for the pair and $500 will hold them. The truck goes out Monday. I feel so much better, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I PM'd KBell, but I'll have to wait to see what she can do. My trainer/buddy is also interested if she can't get them, so I e-mailed him. I need to get them out of there, if anybody has a way to move them like today or early Monday AM and has a place to park them for a couple of days that would be absolutely wonderful. We still have a lot of fencing down and already have three stuffed on 1/2 acre. Anybody got a bigger trailer? Anybody?? Just temporarily, for a couple of days, PLEASE?!?!?!

Thanks Scrap!! Come on guys! There's got to be somebody out here on this cold and dreary morning!!

Even my hubby is involved, he will get the $500 to hold them from his business account. I've got to get them moved.

Kathy......call Longmeadow Rescue Ranch and see if they can suggest anyone out that way that could help a couple of draft horses. I'm sure they would be willing to make suggestions.

I wish I were closer, I'd certainly let them stay here. Hoping for the best.

I believe the situation has been resolved. KBell is taking them, and is trying to arrange transportation. She now has the buyer's phone #. I am so glad. This has been an emotional roller coaster of a weekend. Got my own gorgeous hunk, then got involved in this. Can't tell whether to laugh or cry. Thanks to everybody who even tried to help. Special thanks to KBell for taking these lovelies and to Scrapchick who let me get her shoulders all wet (metaphorically speaking) . Without her I would have been a puddle on the floor!

We're still working on getting them out of there. Have a new thread looking for help from a wider area. The buyer is willing to hold them for a week or so, but it would be nice to get them moved.
