I just talked to DM - Bowling Green was hit hard last night - supposedly one of the worst tornados in US history - we are on the way out at this point.. hopefully another 30 minutes...
My heart and prayers go out to all of these folks.. how awful..

I have always wondered when you are in tornado country, and you receive the warnings that a tornado is immenent, what do you do with your horses and other livestock? I can't imagine seeking shelter for my self and having to leave my horse out to fend for himself, but whatelse can be done..
My heart goes out to all of you in the storm areas -- heartbreaking...

I can tell you that when a tornado went close to my parents' home last spring, the cattle were the first indication that something was wrong. The entire herd stampeded into a sheltered valley. My mom saw this before she heard the tornado. She had been working outside and was unaware that there was even a tornado watch for the area. ETA: I talked to my dad this morning, they live in Lawrence county and were fine. Highland (in Sharp County) was hit hard. The shopping center is gone along with several restaurants. As far as he knew, there were no fatalities in Highland.

I'm so glad to hear that every one is doing okay. Sorry to hear about the barn though. I hope the worst is over for all of you. Prayers to all those in need.
