Horse Wanted !

Anyone in the area... I really want to find a horse. Grandma proof needed. I am a 30 year rider but unwilling to handle spooking or fighting. I really just want a good calm trail horse. I am willing to pay up to 1500 but so far cant find anything but green broke or broodmares that were trained years ago and "need a refresher" and those are 1500. Retraining is 450/month so there goes the budget. I am wiling to go to a sale if someone wants to go with me that knows what they are doing. I think I have called or looked at every horse on the net in my price ranfge. HELP if you can. I don't care what breed, but needs to be easy gaited(Bad back) and willing to stand for mounting from a block. I am sure that horse is out there but by golly it is sure hard to find.

The MO/AR enabling crew here to help. Start with Cascy, her family has foxtrotters, easy on the back. Have no fear, we will help you. Horses&Soccer knows of every horse for sale in the state, she might be able to help too.

There was a 21 year old in the Joplin Globe today. You can check it at Joplinglobe.com
The sale in Diamond may be a good one to check out? I'd offer to go with you except you said it has to be someone who knows what they are doing, and I have never been accused of that.

Good luck.

I'll keep my eyes open...

I may know where a under 10 yr old quarter mare is, registered, halter bloodlines and pretty good looking. The lady said that some young 8-12 yr old girls had been riding her. I am pretty sure she was in your price range, but I don't know if you want a QH. If so let me know and I can look up the lady's number for you if you'd like. I saw this mare a couple weeks ago, not sure if the lady still has her or not.

Still looking

So far I have looked at a great mare...she bucked off my daughter in law but otherwise she was super! But they sold her the next day . I didn't buy her when I looked since I had to take DIL home for a hot bath and heating pad. Tomorrow I am going to look at a gelding that has had 60 days pro training sometime back but has been on pasture for two years. This time I am having a trainer try out the horse first. I really don't bounce worth a darn anymore. ( But I really did like that mare!)
Thanks for the info on the Joplin ad, I didn't see it. I might consider a horse old enough to vote but I would want to know the care it has received and certainly wouldn't pay too much for one that with my luck might be unridable before I could get it saddled. Really would prefer no older than 15, even though I have owned and ridden 20 year plus horses I have also seen some really old 20 year old ones. It depends on the care and their own genetic mix. I just had a friend who lost a 20 year old mare from kidney failure in one week. The horse was one I rode last fall and looked fine.
If I come up with any more funny stories I will update again. By the way DIL is ok but will have to go to the doctor tomorrow with a strained back aand muscle spasms

Hey,

Sorry I didn't get back to you in email, for some reason it wasn't letting me reply

Anyway, I have a friend with a nice foxtrotter gelding, he's about 14.3 hhs registered and blue papered. He is kid broke and they were asking 1400 obo for him. If he's something you think you'd like to look into I can put you in contact with him. I don't know what part of missouri your in though....

I know of a buckskin paint (APHA) for sale in your price range - I think they want $1000 for him. I've watched him trail-ridden and thought he was great. He's nicely reasonable because they're selling him as grade, and he's 16 years old. I think he's 14.2 or 15 hands. Let me know if you'd like me to check for you. He's located close to Batesville, AR.

horse hunt

Cascy and Mule
Please do check on both of the horses mentioned. I am not familiar with Fox Trotters but we are surrounded by them here so there ought to be folks who can answer questions for me if I have any.
Cascy,Are the FT like walkers? My track record with walkers isn't too good. Both of the ones I had needed to be worked really well before they were willing to settle down and ride. I don't know if I just wasn't giving correct ques or if I just had bad luck and got pig stubborn horses.
I currently have Arabians and am familiar with quarter horses. Odly enough the Arabs and I do great but two are unbroken and the riding gelding has fallen in love with my husband. Once an Arab bonds it is forever and Reif is too good with Jim to try to take him for me..
I would just like to get into a horse that I can ride without a lot of sparks flying when they decide its a good day to be a horse. Later on my grandbabies will need a safe calm horse to learn on. I know I make it sound like I need a babysitter for myself but actually I can ride, just out of shape and out of pratice.
I am looking on the net but would go to ride the horse first so weather would be a factor as would distance. A couple of hours is ok but much further would create some difficulties.
I appreciate all the help from you all. I know my horse is out there somewhere, and with the great assistance and suggestions I am getting it should be home soon.

Ok, I talked to the guy, he said he has two kid safe horses. Said they are really laid back and the kids ride them everywhere.

The first one is the foxtrotter gelding, He is grey, 13 yrs old, 14.3 hhs and gentle as can be.

The other one (which I think is to tall for what your looking for but might work) is 7 yrs old. Black and white gelding 15.2 hhs and registered walking horse.

As for your question about the foxtrotters, they are a really versitle breed. Every horse regardless of breed will have it's own person "quirks" but most foxtrotters are considered "cold blooded" as in they are more laid back and easy going, they are usually really easy to break out and they are not "hot" and easy or more prone to buck like some breeds are. I've grown up with them and really like them.

Pm me if you'd like the guys number on the horses, he's located by salem missouri.(not sure if that's to far or not)
