Snowbound

Here in the St Louis area, we have had about 1-1/2" and now it has stopped. For those of you south and west of here, what's headed my way?
Be safe if you're going out.

Not much yet...maybe an inch, maybe less, and they lowered the total forecast to a max of three inches....but we shall see.

Work NEVER gets canceled.....I have a noon deadline to finish up January inventory transactions so I have to get there.....I should be leaving instead of reading HT. I realized last night that my snow shoveling slave is at college.
I better stay right here for safety reasons. Why oh why did I sell my Jeep?

It snowed some here last night... Not a whole lot, just enough to play in

Brad hooked a "redneck" sled to the four wheeler and we went out and played for awhile.... You don't see snow all that often here in arkansas

Hey, I'll trade ya!! We got between 5 and 6 inches way down here in KS. I am sooooo ready for spring! The kicker this morning is, the forecast was for about 12 degrees this morn. I look out at our thermometer and see 0.

We got about 6 inches. The temperature is pretty good today, just enough that the show is dripping from the trees and the sun is shining, so that's plus. I will be so glad for spring...we hate winter. We would move to a warmer climate if we could afford to. I guess I need to find someone wanting to move to MO and trade places.

Right now, in Northern Idaho, we have... oh, probably 3 feet of snow. More in some places where there are drifts and stuff, obviously. All the schools are canceled, even the colleges and my small, private high school that normally NEVER cancels for snow days. Actually, we hadn't had one single snow day in 12 years until now... yesterday was canceled, as well as today. Also, half the businesses in town plus some major roadways are shut down. It's crazy how much snow there is! And there's supposed to be more coming!! I need to get some pictures of my pony in the snow to show you guys just how much there is.

We had 7 inches in O'Fallon, and it always shocks me that schools all close and even many places of employment close!!!

I guess being from Chicago area, I would call this a dusting of snow! =o)

Hopefully you all drove safe!!

Our home office is in Waukesha, Wisconsin, so we have quite a few employees that have transferred to the Pevely location. The first time they drive in rain/snow/flurries here, they come in to the office fit to be tied about the way we drive here....a little culture shock.

I get what you're saying Linebacker. I've lived in Colorado and South Bend, IN, they know how to deal with snow. When you're driving up the mountain, the snow plow is right in front of you and you can't see it, that's snow.

There is no doubt! I am absolutely fit to be tied by the time I get into work here.
I think the problem is the fact that things like Drivers Ed are not required to graduate HS, and the fact that people are so afraid they cause more accidents.

People are always telling me that Chicago is too crazy to drive in, they are nuts. I just smile, agree, and say isn't it amazing that I saw more accidents here in a month then I did in a whole year in Chicago?

The problem is people that drive TOO FAST and TOO CLOSE. I get a lot of international visitors, so driving in the US is baffling enough as it is, but by the time they drive from Lambert to Pevely, even in dry weather, they look like this when I retrieve them from the lobby.... The whole "passing lane" thing seems to be a mystery to Missouri drivers, which I guess could be contributed to the lack of driver's ed, but it was one of the first things I taught my kid when he was learning to drive. Another mystery, which I don't get....the dreaded 4-way stop sign intersection. There is one of those in Festus. Either everybody goes at the same time, or they all sit there and look at each other.
Sorry for my Missouri Driving Soapbox.

See, I think they drive too slow and do not know what that strange blinking light is used for!! OH but what has to be my biggest pet peeve... merging. Every other car and if you are in the middle lane, you do not need to merge into the right lane where the people from the ramp are already merging!!!

Are you SURE you want to move back to Mo? haha.
Merging is also a peeve, as are, yes, those strange blinking things or lack thereof. Good think I only drive 6 miles to work.....

I lived most of my life in Chicago, and I figure that is the biggest issue around here, how people drive.(I think they drive too slow hehehehehe), but the cost of living and the horse property potential has us here! hehehehee
