severe weather

How is everyone faring in tonight's severe weather outbreak? Springfield/Greene Co is under the gun right now. So far, we've had tornado warnings north, south and west of us, but nothing for us directly.

Let's hope this isn't a predictor of a super turbulent spring.

My husband works at 65 hwy and Kearney in Springfield -- a funnel cloud went right over them.

We just have heavy rain and flashy lightning up north. There's a line of Tornado Warnings stretching all the way back to the KS and AR border just south of us -- it's like we're on a little red perch!

All quiet here in the St. Louis area. The wind seems to have died down a little, storms from Springfield usually follow I-44 which is fairly north of me. Nothing on the news about storms yet.

Everyone stay safe.
Under a tornado watch, but no rain.
Windy is all.

I'm stuck at home, my car wont pass inspection so its at the shop till they figure out the mysterious check engine light. One dog on my feet, a cat on my shoulder, and my 50-lb lap dog in my lap. Ready to dash to the basement at a moments notice assuming I can get out from under the pile o'pets!
Be safe everybody!!

Well, no more local channels from Dish Network. It's a little disconcerting when the last thing the meteorologist says is "This storm is directly on track to hit the station."

Springfield is getting absolutely slammed. My husband called at 7 and said that they had been underground for an hour and expected to go back in about 15 minutes.

The news, before its apparent demise, was saying that there was a tornado on the ground near Battlefield Mall. I'm confident that my husband is safe, but this doesn't bode well for Greene County.

We're skirting in and out of the bathroom (the safest room in the house) for now. We also lost Dish, so we're relying on radio. They say there's been some pretty heavy damage in Strafford and Marionville (?), including some houses totally destroyed, but no deaths as of yet. Yikes--we're right smack-dab in the middle of it.

I think that someone is trapped in a mobile home in Strafford -- that was on the NOAA website.

Mozart -- you're closer to this stuff than me -- be safe!

This is fascinating to watch.

There's yet another tornado on the ground in Springfield. I'm glad that it's staying south of me, but we're under the gun in a watch until 5 AM. Loooong night ahead.

I'm more worried about my horses than myself. Lightening, hail, rain, and tornadoes, not to mention the sudden shift in temperature.

Its coming this way according to my weather bug.

It gives accurate weather radar.

The wind has picked up here. I wont get much sleep tonight.

Every stay safe and prayers all will be well.

Since he has spent the better part of 4 hours in a tornado shelter, my husband is being sent home...right as Polk County went under a tornado watch.

He's getting a good view of the storms, but I am not pleased that he's out driving in this.
