Missouri House Bill 250

House Bill 250 has been introduced into the Missouri 95th General Assembly by Representative Larry Wilson. The bill was read twice and referred to the State Parks and Waterways Committee. February 19th members of SMMBCH testified before the committee in support of HB 250. The bill must pass through this committee before it can reach the house floor for a full house vote.

All Equestrians please support this bill by calling, faxing or emailing ALL State Parks and Waterway Committee members listed below and tell them how important it is to you for them to pass HB 250 as written out of the committee. These committee members must understand that trail riding on Missouri public lands is an important issue to the entire equestrian industry. The opposition is making their voice heard in Jefferson City it is time for equestrians to be heard, this is your chance to be heard make that call or send that email today!!

House Bill 250
Section A. Chapter 8, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 8.890, to read as follows:
8.890. No resident of the United States shall be denied access to any public land owned, managed, or funded by the state of Missouri for the purpose of riding horses or mules that has been previously designated by the state as land upon which horses or mules may be ridden. Such access also shall not be denied to trails and roads, designated or undesignated, that are currently being used for horse or mule riding. Nothing in this section shall cause horses or mules to be excluded from inclusion in the development of new trails on Missouri public lands.

Thanks a bunch Scrappy. Not only will I but I'll also fwd to several of my horsey friends that are not HT'ers.

As we all know it is our right, and more importantly our responsibility, to take an active role in government from voting to letting those you elected know how you feel on the issues.

Thanks again.
