Tn Walkers - a herd dispersal in WI

There's a woman near Eau Clair WI who is selling many of her TWH. She has about 40 and is keeping under 10. MANY of them are in foal I believe all are under 12ish yrs old and there are a range of sizes from 14 to 16+.

I found them at http://www.equinenow.com/farm-id-50661 and visited yesterday evening. WOW, how fun. She has all kinds of babies on the ground, yrlgs, 2, 3 and 4 yr olds. A few broke but have been boordmares for ages, one or 2 fresh off 60 days training and 2 GORGEOUS stallions -one a champagne and the other palomino. Just dont buy the ones I want before I get decide .

She had one 'Shadow' who is really quick learner and is going to be amazing when she has someone to build her confidence. Even in the midst of a bunch of pushy horses she wanted to please us and was very very sweet.

1) On the link above, 3rd mare top row foaled an adorable looked like filly yesterday

2) The Blue roan from the 4th row is actually GORGEOUS with an amazing head. Bad Picture for sure.

3) The picture with the rider - that horse is about to pop anytime.

4) Shadow is the 1st picture on the 3rd row from the bottom - it shows a sorrel but she is really this deep intense color that was amazing and indescribale. She was really smart and willing but lacking confidence.

5) 6th row, middle picture is Miata and she's just off 60days. She is really smart, you could see her thinking things out. She's going to be a really nice big horse and much prettier than the picture.

If you are interested, we looked at them all and tried a few others. PM me or reply here and I can tell you more. They all need some hoof care, and work on ground manners. But they are ALL super super friendly.

I made an offer on 2. I am so nervous. I always get things for everyone else and then for some reason it's easy to justify. These would be for me and I feel nauseous yet excited. We went to see these horses and normally I have my camera every where I go. Didn't even think to pack it so I have none. They took some while we were there so hopefully she will send them via email.

ETA: I made an offer and they accepted the offer. They are so gorgeous but I am not sure I am qualified to teach them much more than where I put the buckets at dinner time. I am a wreck.

I made an offer for 2. I cannot believe I did that. We saw a bunch - well we met all 40. We are buying a gray 16 hand mare and a deep chestnut 15.2 hand mare. The gray hasn't been ridden in 4 yrs and the chestnut....well I would hesitate to say ever but someone is said to have sat on her in the round pen and she is smart and willing even with the chaos of a group of strangers milling around her and multiple horses running up on her butt.

My daughter rides all the time and she just hops back on if she falls. My last fall I could barely walk for a week from OPDBS (Old People Dont Bounce Syndrome) and then my horse was injured shortly after and took a year to recover - so basically I haven't ridden in a while - I am more than a little nervous.

Anyway, we bought the gray that has some experience but it's been years since she was ridden and then a green horse that green was being generous. I just couldn't leave her though. She was really smart and something about her just called out to me. We got a good deal on them as a pair and eventually I feel they will be ok for me to ride - eventually being after they have a lot more hours u/s (from others) and I can build confidence through ground work that they won't purposely be stupid with me. I dont want them thinking ..."We have a splatter here...yeehaw"!

I have lots of time. I dont plan on getting on anyone until April. I am dieting and working out so I can be strong and lean when I start riding again. So I am on the ground for a while and they have time to learn bucketloads by then!

The woman at the farm took pictures while we were there so I am trying to get her to forward some. So far I haven't heard from her though. They were supposed to get their coggins yesterday and be ready to travel this weekend. I am a nervous wreck!

I bet you're excited too. Oh I tell you, you won't be sorry with focusing on the groundwork. I'm working with a green horse. I've always considered myself the perfect person not to train a horse My perfect horse is old, low and slow, so I could ride a log and be happy

But ya know what? I have grown so much as a person and have done a lot of good with my green horse that I never would of believed it in a thousand years. I wish I could say that I'm in good shape and all, but I simply do what I can.

And I think you know too that thinking about something is far worse on our nerves than actually doing what we're thinking about. You'll be fine. Thankfully horses are very forgiving, especially of me standing there looking at her and thinking, "Now what?!"

Can't wait to see pictures! I bet they're beautiful

I think you would be 2nd most perfect because I am sure I hold the crown in that division lol.

I do think working with Shadow (chestnut) will help her gain confidence and trust. I am very patient with her type of personality. Maybe because I relate - it's a I am mortified on the inside but trying to not show it on the outside but I dont hide it very well look lol. She was very sweet and very willing though.

We are putting together a desensitizing bag now. We are adding a hoola hoop, tarps,, bags, ribbons, arena balls and multiple other things and we can go on walks by the roads and down by the river etc. So I am excited about working on the ground with her with out pushing her.

I sure hope she is forgiving because I am pretty sure I will make more than a couple mistakes.

Kissy needs ground training for a bit of confidence, muscle building and consistency. But she was very respectful and well behaved even for mounting for not being ridden in 4 yrs. Mostly, once she is comfortable, she will need hours put on her. My daughter volunteered - I think she sees another show horse lol. Maybe, but not until I get to ride her .

Ahh, I can see why you bid on the ones you did. That grey is very nice, of course I'm the kind of person who sees something good in every horse. Even the hammer headed, roman nosed one with his ears pinned back. I might have enough sense not to take him home, but I would still feel for him.

So... when are they coming home and what do you have in mind to start with first?

The horses haven't had a lot of training in that pen. The gray has but it was 4 yrs ago and the chestnut almost none. The chestnut was peeved because other horses were running up on her behind lol.

My goodness they were so badly wanting affection they were hard to get rid of...fortunately, no biters or kickers for a herd of mostly young horses. They come home on Sunday
