Summer goals

What goals did you have for you and your horse(s) this summer? How is it going? Any successes out there?
I had 2 goals and succeeded with 1.
The first goal was to attend a Parelli clinic and establish a better relationship with one of my horses. I managed this in June and had a great time, the horse I took, Sasha, has started to see me as an interesting person and I have gained a lot of appreciation for her as well.
My second goal has been to go trail riding. I now have some Old Macs but really need an expensive saddle pad to make my saddle really comfortable for her, so that hasn't happened yet.
Anyone else care to share? Version, I know you've done some neat stuff in your limited amount of time!

I had a few, but I haven't met any of them...
  1. Have Boots ready to show for the MnFQHC Show(show is the weekend of the 16th, we ain't ready).
  2. Get to the HT trail ride, and a few others(haven't been out on ANY, because of Cutty's soundness issue).

So I beleive I have a goal set for myself for next year, already.

I think I'm going to send Boots out for some finishing with a trainer, because I've brought her as far as I can. She needs someone who really knows what they are doing.

Good job K, you atleast reached one of your goals and could definately reach the other - fall is the best time to trail ride anyway!!

Sorry I'm so late to find this Guess I'm not avoiding my data work in the right threads Ya know, I don't have goals like that. Its not that I don't think about what I'd like to do, but controlling my emotions seems to be the thing that gets in the way the most. Its tough on my nerves to only go out once a week and then try to manage all of my hopes and dreams in a few hours, especially when I'm all by myself.

But with Pennyrain's help I bought Parelli Level 1 and so it seems to be helping because its a plan and it helps me understand my horses better. I'm also focusing on Peaches and worrying about working with all four. That was just too overwhelming.

Last weekend was such a super time with Peaches and she showed me that she is absolutely up for being trained. So I guess my goal is to manage my emotions so that I can open up my imagination to playing with Peaches instead of working with her. To make our lessons fun and not nerve wracking... for me I think it will work out better for the both of us.

My goals:
Ride my 4 year old more, start my 2 year old...of that, I've done some but not as much as I would have liked...
but my biggest horse goal is not so much the working/riding of the horses but rather the building of facilities on 'our' side of the road (vs. where they were at my fil on 'the other side of the road' lol)..on that we are still on course w/ it..hoping to finish before the snow flies but it's slow going...

My goal this year was to show the APHA shows and win the Amateur Rookie of the Year belt buckle year end award.

I have far exceeded my expectations! Yes, I will be getting that belt buckle! I have been Novice Amateur high point winner at every show in my state except one. I am currently listed #6 on the national APHA list for Amateur Rookie of the Year, and #6 in Zone 5 for all Novice Amateurs. My horse & I earned an ROM in hunter under saddle and showmanship, plus points in western pleasure, equitation, horsemanship and trail. And we were even named Reserve Champion in halter several times.

I have expanded my goals to build on what we've already accomplished. I want to earn at least two more ROMs. And I want to finish the year as the number 1 Novice Amateur in my state. We'll see how it goes.......only one more show left!

One of my goals was to find a nice trail horse for myself. Check that off my list Another goal was to ride in Buck Brannaman clinic. I am so excited that I get to do this in about 2 weeks. It should be very good for me and my mare. I'm so pumped! The other goal, which isn't really horsey, was to get the new house done, some landscaping in and some grass. Well, the house is done, most of the landscaping is in, but the grass may take a little longer
