Know of a REALLY well broke/beginner horse for sale?

Does anyone know of a REALLY well broke calm horse for sale that would be suitable for a beginner any where close to the Iowa City or Davenport area? I really like palominos but am primarily looking for a calm horse with a smooth trot/canter and one that's personable.

Sherik: Thanks. I've called and will probably go see him tomorrow night.

Kindred also pm'd me a dreamhorse ad that I have a message into the people about - Thanks!

I looked at a Pally a LONG ways away yesterday that was supposed to have been ridden by kids - I even took the truck and trailer. I didn't get along too bad with him but certainly would NOT call him a beginner's horse So I came home a lot more poor for it and totally frustrated/discouraged

The perfect pally gelding is out there just for you. It might just take some hunting around and a little time. Let us know how you come out on these two.

I probably should have said the Palomino was preferable but not absolutely necessary. I am going to look at an appy tomorrow. The main thing is a really good broke horse that will help build my confidence back up.

I guess that's why I'm dreaming of a pally - I had one about 12 years ago that I owned for about 15 years (he died on our farm) who was WONDERFUL!!! I rode him in several parades - once behind a tractor that was backfiring and he never flinched He never once bawked at anything, had excellent ground manners, met me at the gate, picked up his feet when you put one finger on the front of his fetlock....I could go on and on. I only paid $200 for him in '83

I wonder if Lady Clairol comes in an econo-size?! Seriously, I think it is part of the name of the game to be totally frustrated when trying to find a really good horse. I think part of it is that we hope so much we run ourselves ragged and maybe (at least in my case) overlook little things that are said on the phone. But then, part of it is asking the "right" question and knowing how to "interpret" the truth from how things are said. There are just way too many people who talk up a horse when they're selling it but crabbing it all to pieces while they're trying to ride it themselves.

I wish you lived closer, I sure have a horse you could ride and be safe.

Good Luck!

Well, I've rode 4 this week and only one was much of an option. One of them tonight bucked and my son bailed off. We think the back flank got back a bit too far but we're not really sure and at my age and with my hip injury I'm not sure I want to chance that. All of them have had a pretty rough trot and canter.

I'm really thinking the QH that I sold was worth more money!!! The consigner I had him with said horses like him are all over for $1600-1800 - Well let me see them!!! Because I sure can't find them even at $2500!
