Road conditions through IA?

My husband and I are taking a quick trip down to MO this weekend to visit his aunt who is in poor health. We had planned to take I-35 to I-80 to US-65 to IA-163/US-63. Are those roads passable?

We really don't want to take I-29 if we don't have to.

Correct me if I'm wrong Iowans but I think I80 is closed over the Cedar River. But you're not going that far. I know when I was down there a week ago I35 was no where near flooding then all the way to Kansas City.

What if you took US65 all the way south to I70? Then down? I think the majority of the flooding is the SE corner of Iowa and the NE corner of Missouri right now.

BTW there is a really nice rest area on I35 just over the Iowa border. Brand spanking new, I was very impressed.

I don't know about the other roads but they opened I-80 over the Cedar River last night. That bridge is just a couple miles from my house.

Orchid - check out the Iowa DOT website for road conditions before you leave as they change daily. Here's their website: http://www.dot.state.ia.us/

Some of 63 was closed the other day, but I'm not sure now. You should have no problem with 1-35 or I-80.

Beth, I will check out that alternate route.

Sheri, I went to the website yesterday and it looked like all the roads we will need are now open, but I wanted to double check with y'all. Living in MN you learn to mistrust the DOT.
