Minnesota placed on Lyme disease alert
(from the Minnesota Medical Association)

MINNEAPOLIS, May 19, 2008 — The Minnesota Department of Health has issued public cautions and alerts against Lyme disease.

May and June are peak months for Lyme disease in Minnesota. The MDH especially cautioned the people visiting or living in the deep woods of northern and central Minnesota.

The number of tick-borne diseases in Minnesota reached record numbers last year, including two people who died of infections . There were 1,239 reported cases of Lyme disease last year that exceeded the record of 1,023 cases set in 2004.

Bites from black-legged ticks, also called deer ticks caused 322 cases of human anaplasmosis and 24 cases of babesiosis.

Remember folks, reported cases are about 10% of actual cases and then you have the misdx'd ones too

This info came from Leadmare!! Thanks for looking out for your fellow HT members!!

Ahhh lovely Thanks for the heads up! The ticks are out in force, not on me yet but on my puppy dog. This year I'm trying Advantix, we'll see if it does a better job than Frontline

Yep Version they are in full force here too. I have had a couple stuck already. And I say already because our weather here is almost 2 weeeks behind. The dog has had a few too. I sure hate tick season. I need to get some frontline or advantix, thanks for the reminder.
