Trails to ride in WI???

I have a friend who is looking for good trails to ride in WI. We can look some up on-line but she is wanting to know about your favorite trails to ride.

I haven't been there, but several of my friends have gone to Wildcat Mountain and the Kickapoo Reserve. There are some challenging areas though. I can get the name of the campground if you're interested.

We always go to the Governor Knowles State Forest. It is not very challenging, but the trails are very nice.

Thanks! That will give her 2 options to choose from - 1 of them should work for her

We like going to the trails in Spring Valley WI, located about an hour east of the twin cities.

My friends like to ride the "End of the Trail" in Wisconsin. The website is www.endofthetrailcampground.com

Kettle Moraine State Forest

My friends and I usually go to Kettle Moraine State Forest, either the Eagle, WI section or the Campbellsport, WI section. Campbellsport just finished redoing their campground to include a barn with box stalls (1st-come basis), and many of the individual campsites have their own 10x10 pole corrals to use as stalls, too. I'm not sure how many miles of trails are in Eagle, but the Campbellsport branch has over 30 miles of trail, from open field to steep hills. It's a really pretty area, with well-marked & maintained trails.

Also, if your friend is interested, she can find several websites with other trails, guides, ratings, etc.

Here are a few we use:
http://www.horsetraildirectory.com/N...n &unit=statehttp://www.dnr.state.wi.us/Org/land/...ils/horse.html

http://wisconsinstatehorsecouncil.org/?page=trails

The last one is the one we use the most. I even ordered their trail guide, since it had so much helpful info in it.

I live in Eagle and am only minutes away from several different trails of the southern kettle morraine trails system. There is alot of them with camping areas nearby. Some areas are a little rocky and others can be very sandy, there are hills and some very nice views. It can be a very good workout for your horse.

I live in northeast WI and we have some very nice trails in this area. There is the Machickanee forest in southern Oconto County. www.outbackriderswi.org You'll get more info & a trail map from that website.

Also in Oconto County, but farther north is the Nicolet National Forest. Some campgrounds that welcome horses are www.spurofthemomentranch.org and www.9mileresort.com
