Hay

150 bales of oat hay in the barn and another 100-150 on the way, extra cool because it's our first cut off our very own field!!!!

Yup! Congrats! I would love to have that kind of security for my horses. It has to be a very nice feeling.

Oh Congrats!!! What a nice feeling that must be!! I am so happy for you.

I just talked to a gentleman who will sell me 800# round first cut bales for 30$ each. He just has to make sure he gets 50 bales of second cut and anything extra off the fields and he will sell me that amount in 1st cut bales!!

So let's all do a rain dance!!!!!!!!

WOOOOOHOOOO!!!

Congrats! My loft is full, approx 500 bales. Should last my 3 horses and 2 goats all winter. They have 8 acres of pasture to eat until fall. My neighbor gave me about 200 bales for my husband helping to roof her house and I bought 300 for $3 per bale (square large bales).
Thank god I don't have to worry about not having enough this winter.

WHO DANCED? someone jumped the gun and did the rain dance early. It must have been some dance Well, we got all the hay from the field and stacked in the barn except for about 30 or so. I guess I feed those first. How did everyone else make out?

We got a ton of rain but less than what I expected. The sky was amazing with pink lightening! It was really pretty to look at.

My hubby got our stuff round baled before it rained, so we are safe I feel bad for anyone who had not gotten to that point. I was glad, though, for some rain. The garden and grass needed it. I know for a fact that it will rain sometime next week between Mon and Wed. They had predicted scattered thunderstorms for then, but even if it showed clear skies it would rain---it always does during the horse show days at the Tuscola Co. Fair

It was raining so hard at one point that as I was walking, I had a hard time seeing because of the rain in my eyes. Then it started to hail. All the lightning and wind, it was all something else.

We ended up with 307 bales of good oat hay Oats are harder to dry than regular hay so we ended up with almost 50 that were to wet to put in the barn but it worked out. We sold it to some cattle friends of ours they will be able to feed it befor it goes bad. Didn't make a profit but breaking even is better than a total loss.

We've not been to the farm yet but if it rained and we get more we'll have a good second cut and be set for the year .
