Free TWH gelding Now with pics and bio info.

I am posting for a friend of mine so heres what I know for now. Charlie is a 25 yr old TWH. Hes a great ole babysitter and his owner (shes 9) is moving to a younger horse with a little more spunk. Hes coming in Friday so I will post pics as soon as he gets to the farm.

I thought I would put the word out and see if anyone would be intrested in a babysitter or trail buddy for those who just want to mosey along. If I had the room I would be all over him but alas no more for me for awhile. If you would be intrested please pm me. Hes current on everything and sound. No known health issues.

Thanks,
Evelyn

There is no shortage of free horses nowadays. I have one coming in on Friday and have been offered three more! I can't take them all. I hope others on HT will give him a chance. I'll bet he'd make a good first horse for someone

I may be interested in one. I'm looking for a lesson horse; light riding once or twice a week. I don't have much to spend now though, so free would be great! I can promise a great home though! You guys keep me in mind!

Found this on one of the other forums I'm on - thought you might like to contact them. I'm not sure where your at or where their at but definitely worth a try - GOOD LUCK!! I'd say I'd take em but I got in 3 last month that we're trying to place. Hard to do with this economy.

I am looking to buy a KID SAFE, HUSBAND safe horse, 15+ hh, prefer a gelding, but will consider a non-alfa mare. Must be SOUND, and able to do some light trail riding, road safe, we don't do alot of hard riding, basically around the yard, so something the kids and hubby can hop on and be safe.
Can offer an excellent home, farrier and vet references, will consider drafts, or draft crosses. A forever home to the right horse. Please contact Lynda or Gordon

Update!

Well Charlie is not home yet. The owners had some truck trouble Friday and have hired my friend to transport him here today. He should be home this evening so I will post pics ASAP. Thanks for all the replys and hopefully this nice ole guy will get a good forever home.

Well Charlie is home. Got in late last night and is a WONDERFUL ole guy. Came off the trailer like a pro. Rode like a dream for 2 1/2 hours home. Shelly said you didnt even know he was back there.
Checked him out hes got a an awesome gait and rides like a dream. Super whoa and great pace as he is gaited. Smooth to ride. Takes the bit and drops his head super. All around nice horse. Doesnt look his age at all. So on with the pics.

Heather and Charlie. Riding in just a nice snaffle and he does neck rein.

Some body shots.
Look at that tail!

If that Perch happens to show up at your house, I might have to take him home with me too.

Bad news about Charlie. Vet says he has a neurological problem with his hind end, and he is not safe to ride. Unfortunatly, there isn't much I can afford to do for him right now. A chiropractor may be able to help him, but there are no guarantees. If anyone is looking for a great ole baby sitter, or "in hand" type of show horse (he parks perfectly), he is free to good home. I'm not going to let him go to just anyone as I don't want to see anything happen to him, he is too much of a puppy, love bug, and simply just an amazing horse. I will continue to do what I can for him, but if anyone is willing to help him or has any suggestions, it would be appreciated greatly.

It's hard to explain, it's more something you'd have to see. He is very light in his hind end and the slightest push can almost knock him over. He crosses his back legs when he walks, kind of makes you think of a drunk person when you see it. You can spread his back legs apart, and he won't pull them back together and conform himself like a normal horse. I will try to get a video of it so you can see.

Bumping this, Charlie is still looking for a home. He is doing better, but still not like normal. I'm somewhat in a rush now to find him a home. We have decided to move and I won't have the extra room anymore. Even if someone could just offer a foster home, that would be great!

Since I am being totally paranoid about Charlie going to a bad home, I've decided to list my 4 y/o mare for sale instead, and keep Charlie. She is a good & beautiful girl and I'm less worried about her finding a good home. She gets so many compliments and what not, I'm sure she'll have an amazing home in no time.
So, thanks Ev for trying to help, but I think he was just mean't to stay here.
