Big South Fork??

My husband and I have been wanting to ride at Big South Fork. Everyone we have talked to has said it is a wonderful place to trail ride. I was just wondering how many of you have ridden there and where is the best place to camp?

I've had my eye on that place too. Looks great. I'm anxious to see what everyone says.

We used to ride there quite often, but it's been 6 years ago. It was great and one of my favorite places. We don't have the camping set up so always rented a room or small house with stalls available when we stayed. Leatherwood Retreat was one of them run by a nice older couple. Lots of times we'd go just for the day. A girl I used to work with went a lot and they always stayed at Station Camp, near Oneida, but I've never ridden in that part of the park. We always went in on the Jamestown side and stayed on that end close to Bandy Creek. There was camping available there and stalls, etc., also a lot of trails close to this area. We rode through there a lot and it was a very nice area. But, like I said it's been years and I'm not sure what's available now. Probably a lot more places. It's definately worth checking out. It's really beautiful in the fall on the White Oak Loop Trail! There are several overlooks that aren't far off the trail.

I've only been once, and it's been a couple of years ago, but we really enjoyed it. We camped at East Fork Stables in Jamestown, TN - www.eastforkstables.com. Camping area, stalls, showers, etc. were all clean and nice. We had a good time, and I would stay there again.

Thumbs up

I have been several times. There is Eastfork, which is big for a lot of people, but they have raised their rates and it can be expensive.

I have stayed at Zenith Horse Camp and also Timber Ridge up by Jamestown. They are both very nice and run by extremely nice folks. There is access to ride the railroad bed from both of these camps, and it is marvelous scenic riding. I highly recommend it.

I am lucky enough to be just a couple hours drive from Big Southfork.

East Fork Stables is great. We have been there many times and love it. Big South Fork is one of my favorite places to ride. I love the trails and the scenery. Have been to Bandy Creek also. The campground is nice but you have to keep your horse at the barn across the road from the campground. Didn't like that part.

Hey from Wax, KY

We went to Big South Fork for the first time this last spring. We stayed at Zenith Stables. It was a really nice place, very homey feel. WE rented one of the cabins that sleeps 10 or so people. THe rates were really reasonable.

Have a great trip!
