Country pleasure Shows

I have recently started showing my mare in country pleasure classes (i am a western pleasure person) I have owned gaited horses all of my life just never tried to show them. What exactly do they look for in a country pleasure class?

If you're talking TWHs, the CP classes do a walk and favorite gait.
The horses are judged on their gaits and conformation and temperment.
The horse should enter the ring calmly at the walk. When the favorite gait is called for, the horse should perform a medium speed running walk, preferably with a little knee action. Then go calmly back to the walk. Stop-Reverse-Repeat. Then line up and stand quietly.

What part of KY are you in? The Hardin Co. Fair (Elizabethtown) show is this Wed. night. I don't have a horse showing, but will be there to support some friends.

we live in metcalfe co. I have a great little mare she does all of the above, but around here it is all in who you know!! My daughter was wanting to show her and i was wanting to make sure i was telling her the right things. My mare is super quiet and doesn't move on unless you ask her and keeps in her gaits without trouble. thanks for your help

Nelson County has a series of fun shows throughout the summer...one a month. They are not TWHBEA sanctioned, so no points or cash prizes are awarded, just a small trophy for first and ribbons after that. But they are fun, fun, fun! And I have always found the judging to be fair.

I am going out to talk to the lady in charge today. Let me know if you're interested, I'll get you some more information.

I know Bardstown would be a bit of a drive for you, but the experience may be worth the trip.
