low cost spay/neuter?

Ok, over the last couple years our cat population in the area has been growing. Mainly drop-offs and drop-offs having kittens. I would like to get our neighborhood feral cat population under control - without taking the cats to the shelter. Its a death sentence there for cats.

However, right now I can't afford the $70 per female that my vet charges. If I could find a shelter or vet that offers low-cost spay/neuter that would be a huge help. We are in central Kentucky but willing to drive an hour or so to take the cats in.

Check to see if you have a "Noahs Ark" organization there. The one here has offered to help us with spay/neuter for half what the doc charges. We are waiting for a space though and I fear another littler has already been produced. Another idea is to call local vets and ask if they might be willing to work on their fee a bit to help the animals? Good luck.

Check with your local Humane Society and see if they have a PAL Program (Prevent A Litter). Otherwise, Nelson Co has a spay/neuter clinic every Tuesday. Male cats are $15, female cats are $25, plus $5 or $10 for their rabies. Mercer Co. also has a spay/neuter clinic, but they're a little more expensive. Nothing in Washington Co., and I'm not sure about Marion Co. Marion would be closest to you, between us.

I have Nelson Co.'s no. if you need it.

Well I will give Taylor and Adair a call again. I know last year neither one had a program in place. Maybe they changed it since then. Will also call Marion - didn't even think of them and I work in that county so it wouldn't be much out of my way.

Thanks for the help!

Also try the Shamrock Foundation for help. They're Louisville based, but I know they at least go as far as Shelbyville, so they may also do further.

I'm not sure exactly where you're located, but the Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society offers spay/neuter for cats for $35.00 I believe. Anyone willing to bring the cat there is welcome.

I know that the Louisville animal shelter has a program that helps out with stuff like that. I am getting my cat fixed for free through a place here in New Albany,IN. I had checked into the Louisville's program first. I think they even have a program for feral cats. Good luck with your search.
