Horse on the loose...
My husband left for work yesterday around dinnertime, called me to say that there was a loose horse alongside the highway about a mile and a half from home. Cream colored, no halter, thin, quietly munching away on the new spring grass. I know most of the horse folks around here and know of none that color. Hmmmmm.... so I called the non-emergency number for the County sheriff and reported what he told me. Me and daughter then grabbed a halter and lead rope and headed out to see what we could see. We rode up and down the road for a 1/2 hour, the sheriff met up with us, no horse in sight. It's pretty wild country out here, very hilly and wooded. I left my name and number, was a bit anxious to hear how it turned out and haven't got a call. Things aren't as desperate around here as they are in other parts of the country, I'm sure he/she's just managed to get out of his pasture and is on the lam. I think I'm going to call and see what's up, if I should be on the lookout for a lost horse.
