Links and Resources
I hope this is OK to post. I suppose that some of it sort of "competes" with Horsetopia, but sometimes there's no good substitute for having local contacts and resources. And I'm going to try to stick to the theory that "if you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say it at all." Most of these links I'm putting up are Illinois-based, with a couple for Wisconsin because I'm up near the border there.
If you have additional websites or organizations you'd like to mention, post them here. I imagine PVF will keep us in line if there's anything wrong with it. Illinois Horse is a website with several links and resources, with listings of places to trail ride, equine schools, events in Illinois, etc. http://www.illinoishorse.com/ Horsetradin' is run by the Illinois Horse people, and when you go to the above site for illinoishorse, and click on "classifieds," it sends you over here. I'm always looking in here for good deals. http://www.horsetradin.com/ From The Horse's Mouth Equine Paper circulation covers parts of Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana. The paper is published monthly and sells for $2.50. We now have many area businesses that carry our paper. We also take the paper to as many horse related events as possible (horse shows, auctions, clinics, etc.). http://www.horsemouth.com/ The Hooved Animal Humane Society (HAHS) is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 1971 by six concerned and committed citizens. It is HAHS’ mission to promote the humane treatment of hooved animals through education, legislation, investigation and if necessary, legal intervention (impoundment). In addition, we provide physical rehabilitation to animals that have endured severe neglect and abuse and then adopt them out to compassionate forever homes. http://www.hahs.org/ The Hooved Animal and Protection Society (HARPS) - Championing the Humane Care of Equines and other Hooved Animals Through Legislation, Investigation, Impoundments, Rehabilitation, Education and Community Outreach. http://www.harpsonline.org/ Horsemen's Council of Illinois - We are a non-profit corporation affiliated with the American Horse Council, the industry's national lobbying and trade association based in Washington, D.C. http://www.horsemenscouncil.org The Illinois Horse Fair - Every year in March in Springfield, IL http://www.horsemenscouncil.org/Illi...ir/welcome.htm The Illinois Horse Fair Vendors - Too bad 2008 was cancelled! Take a look at some of the vendors who were going to be at the fair http://www.horsemenscouncil.org/Illi...r/vendors.html IllinoisTrailRiders Yahoo group - I've belonged to this group for a couple of years, but not been very active. It tends to wax and wane with lots of activity for a while, then nothing for a while. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/IllinoisTrailHorseRiders/ Lake County Mounted Posse - The Lake County Mounted Posse is a horse club based in Lake County, IL. Most of our members are from northeastern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin. The club has been in existence since 1957. http://www.lcmp.info/ Wisconsin Horsemen's News - The Wisconsin Horsemen's News is a monthly, all-breed magazine devoted to the horse industry of Wisconsin. Each issue features articles from horse clubs & associations as well as ranch/farm news, rodeos, trail rides, horse shows and other horse-related activities. http://www.wishorse.com/ Midwest Horse Fair - Madison, WI, every April - it's the biggest fair in the region! (A lot bigger than the Illinois fair.) http://midwesthorsefair.com/

Thanks Lady,
The only one i can add is, This one is Indiana Trailriders.org www.intrailriders.org I know there is a Will County Trailriders association also, but i cant find/remember their website, But a lady i know belongs to it and she said that they meet every sunday from April through Sept. and go on rides. I Love Horsetradin I listed my horse for lease, and my stall for rent on that site, I check it daily for classifieds. I also love from the horses mouth, I pick that up every chance i get, It lists all shows going on locally, which i dont particpate in, but like to go watch. I am a member of hahs. And my first year at the horse fair was in 07' I went by myself, stayed all weekend, and still didnt see it all I LOVED IT. I was sooo looking forward to going this year |
