Tell us more..

Ok you guys seem kind of quiet in this region..
So tell us what you like about your area?
whats your favorite place to go trailriding?
Or what are some must see places for your area?
You never know when you might get company..

Hey BreezinThru we are really close! Thats cool.

Ok don't throw tomatoes please? We are/used to be the people that board and only come to see the horse when we pay the board... I know that is awful and I won't make any excuses.

Cookie was my brothers horse growing up and he quickly lost interest. My horse was older and my parents went through financial trouble and one had to go. My parents figured the younger one with much more training was the smarter choice in case I wanted to show. Now I realize it was for the best but when I was 16 and selfish I was angry! And pretty much quit going to the barn... I know really dumb. Anyway I have now at the age of 30 pulled my head out of my . I have been out to see him a couple times a year up until the last year ( when I discovered HT) And now I can say last fall I was out once or twice a week to ride or groom. Not as often this winter as I hate the cold but now that it's getting warm again I will venture out much more often.

As for places to ride their is a nature preserve across the street from the barn but no one has cleared trails in years .

Also how do I go about getting Cookie used to alittle work again I feel kind of guilty because he has been really happy as a pasture ornament for so long, the owners daughters would ride him occasionally.

I really just want to trail ride but when I'm at the barn there is never any one there and it would not be safe to ride alone since he hasn't been on trails in a while. Any advice would be appreciated?

I just love living out in the country. Open space, uphill-and-down dusty gravel roads, peace and quiet, it's heavenly. Most of our friends and family love to visit but all of them think it's sooooooooo dull and boring and they could never live here. Life does definitely move at a slower pace out here in the sticks, but that's just the way we like it. I'm so happy to be able to take care of my horses myself. It's good for the soul to be able to look outside and see them relaxed and happy, grazing peacefully...sigh...

My area has nothing to offer but serenity. I've lived here now for 17 years and if there are any "must see" places, I haven't discovered them yet . It's a 1/2 hour drive if I run out of milk, and the closest small town with all the amenities, shopping, is a bit further than that. As for riding, it's down the road or across the fields. We don't currently own a trailer and, frankly, enjoy our scenery as much as any place we might drive to. Hubby and I are both past 50 now...gasp... , so we don't go for all day rides anymore, a couple hours at best, so we're happy hanging around here. There's a new neighbor down the road about a mile and they have horses. Maybe we'll get together this summer, that'd be cool.

The one and only drawback to living where we do is dealing with winter, and this past one was AWFUL. Sleet, freezing rain, ice, snow, TONS of snow, poor plowing of roads, they're gravel so we get no salt; it's a daily chore just to get up our long lane to the prob-not-plowed-yet road to try to get to work. I am soooo happy it's spring . Today it's raining...not freezing rain...or sleet...or snow, sweet blessed rain... .

I'm right in the middle of the state. Most people around me like to go riding at Jubilee State Park. It is only 10 mins from me. But I have 300 acers of my own. So you are all welcome to come ride with me. The park is really cool too though. It's just that sence I only have a two horse trailer and at least 4 or5 of us go riding at a time it takes too much time to get the horses there. So we ride on our own land and the land around us.

Our horses will go just about anywhere you point them. And I love to ride with all kinds of ride and thier mounts.
I like to ride in the back of the ride so I don't miss anything

I am new to Indiana so I am not sure what all there is to do exactly in my area. I am in New Albany. A stones throw from Louisville Kentucky. My horses are in Lexington, KY but I do keep in contact constantly to see how they are doing.
