There is another one out there as well... Good grief what a season for you and the Gulf Coast..
Sending all the prayers I have that all of these stay out to sea..

I went through the 3 in Polk in 2004 - not fun.
Even in Polk, as far inthe middle as you get, the wind and tornado damage was extensive for Charley and Jeanne. (Francis had more flood damage.) Make sure that you all prepare, "just in case".

It would help if we knew where this thing is going. Do we evacuate, stay put?? I really don't want to be on the road, stuck in traffic pulling a trailer in the heat. Our barn isn't hurricane worthy and I hate the thought of leaving my babies out in a hurricane! We're in Brevard County so, if this thing stays south, we have a couple of pastures if anyone needs to head north. We also have a camper that sleeps several people that we can plug into the barn if you need it.

Well, I am waiting for the 11:00 advisory, at last call, I am in the path for a direct hit. I am in Broward County on the southeast coast not too far over the dade/broward line. I will be staying put. I have 22 horses here, 5 at my moms and 3 at the racetrack in dade county. My barn can sustain 180 mph winds, we have a generator big enough to run the house, the barn, everything. Not thrilled though!

Wow, Kanoo, I'll keep you in my thoughts! This storm looks pretty bad. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this thing takes some crazy last minute turn. I'm glad to hear that you can take 180 winds... that does help, but it'll still be real ugly. Check in from time to time..... seems that you are going to be the gauge we use.

Well, our Brevard County storm watch tree at Harris Corp. says it will be taking a SW turn then continue W... That's their prediction, at least... Here's what our website says:
"The latest advisory report at 11AM shows Hurricane "Ike" now a Category 3 storm located north of the Leeward Islands moving toward the west at approximately 15 mph with sustained winds of 125 mph. A slight turn toward west-southwest is forecast tonight or early Saturday with a turn back to the west expected by Sunday. On this track, Ike could be near the Turks and Caicos Islands and the southeastern Bahamas on Sunday." This could be good news, depending on how south it goes...

In KatieMaes above picture, I am right where it stops @ 8am on Wed. About 40 miles inland........... Still a real bad scenerio for Kanoo and I becaue we are both in the NE quadrant of the storm which is the worst. Also, there is no land to detroy this storm, all open water to just keep plugginh along. I will know more Monday what I am doing w/ the horses. My barn can w/stand 150mph winds, but if I can get them out of there I will. I am already on stand by for work (EMS) ............ ![]()
