Plus, all the ones I see advertised are either "in foal" or still studs. Whats up with that. I just want a run of the mill, nice natured, cute, mini to teach to drive so I can take hubby out and cart with friends.

Many believe that minis are worth oh so much more when they are able to be bred or are already bred, whether the horse really should be or not. I bought my gelding as a stallion for $500 and had him gelded. So the total for him was $850. He's the best driving and jumping horse now. He's beat a reserve national driving mini in an open mini show.
Let me know how much you want to pay and I'll ask around with the people I know.
I know one farm that is moving and is selling many of their minis. There were two stud colts for $500 if they haven't sold yet but they are only weanlings. Another farm is going out of business. So, let me know what you can spend and what you want in age and I'll see if I know of anyone.

I really don't want to spend a whole lot mabey 4-5 hundred. I would like an older 5-7 yr old mare or gelding. If it knew how to drive that would be a huge bonus!

I am in Volusia County!

I'll see what I can find, but I'm pretty sure I can't find one that can drive for $500. I can possibly find one that age. I'll let you know.

I am not currently set up for a little mini-stallion, with 3 girlies.

That would not go well. Tho, my nasty girl acts like a stallion sometimes. I always wonder about her.

Just a cute, run of the mill mini would be fine by me! Nothing showy, nothing fancy, just happy and healthy and loveable.

I can't find any geldings, no big surprise there. Stallions and mares and the cheapest I can find is $1000 unless you want a weanling for $500.

If you go to lilbeginnings.com they have a breeders connect on there that goes state by state and you can search the farms that advertise on there under Florida.
What about a pony? Pure Thoughts Horse Rescue has ponies.
