Never felt better!

Sat I rode in an NBHA show. I am signed up in this District but have been riding in another due to the horse I have been rding for a man, has been rode by several people. There are a lot of women that watch and gossip, and I would rather it just be me and the horse, and no nerves. This horse was about blown up when he came to me. He would aim for the barrel just POed. Practce for him used to mean run, run, run. He hated a barrel. I have done LOTS of slow work and settled him down.
Anyways, no one had seen me ride him and word got back to me that they were saying I couldn't do anything with him. I had to ride in my district for pts so...we went Sat.
I was nervous, knowing I was being watched. Well the best time was a 14.95. I ran a 15.50!! I was soooo happy. Placed 5th in 2D. then got on my trusty old mare and placed 2nd in 4D (she is pregnant).
What a good feeling!

And I was so proud of the horse that everyone said was blown up!!!

Yes I am. I am so proud of this horse. He was a total stresshead. I WALKED into the arena and walking into the alley, I prayed that I would just qualify. (The girl before me used top have to back him in!" When I came out I knew that I didn't hear right, and said"Was that a 15 or a 16?" They said 15!" He has never gotten so much loving from me!!!

I walked over to the owner who had wanted to trade me him for one of my mares, and said, "Do you still want to trade for Noel?" He said "well....I think I will keep this one a little while." I just laughed!

Great job! My younger sister always wanted to get into NBHA. Togan could do it, but wouldnt ever place too high. He's just too heavy and just not quite fast enough. He does run good here locally, usually running a mid-15 or very low 16. Good enough to place in the runnings here but not at the NBHA level.

If I could find a good barrel horse for her that COULD run NBHA that wouldnt cost an arm or a leg Id love to have it! I know she'd be ecstatic about it.

You need to check out that video of the Palomino my partner has for sale! She has heart and will go even faster. He wants me to start riding her. I am trying to convince him to keep her. She will run at NBHA level, but there is 4 divisions. You should just try and see where you hit as a non member. Never know!

Are you going to ride in it or go watch? I keep up with ALL the shows and points, etc as some of the girls who ride are "friends" and I like to see how they stand point wise.

Nope! I just got re-interested! I was looking up every IBRA and NBHA ride coming up. Also I have about talked my partner into keeping that Palomino mare and letting his 13yr old granddaughter ide her too. Then we will each have 2 horses to Jackpot on.

I am just so excited to be near his grandson on the times. He was 3rd out of 400+ riders at Youth World, and I was only 1/2 second off his first run and same time as his 2nd run (in youth). It was definitely a good way to start out the season. We can only get better right?
