We will be leaving in 2 weeks.. but if someone is really stuck - we have two pens that someone can use.. a bit of a drive, but if things happen fast and get bad, let me know..
**** I am amending this.. we do have one big pasture that if someone has a few horses, we can move all of our mares together, and you can use this one.. it would accomodate at least 7 horses - and a front lawn to camp on..

I am same way. Just usually wind and rain! 1 hr inland from Jax, 45min north of Gnsvl, 1 1/2 hrs from west coast. I might be a little closer for someone? Doors are open!

We can use the rain form this, but nothing more.
Faye is suppose to hit the keys tomarrow and follow up the state coming in at about Tampa area. I would say no later than tomarrow, if you need to evac., get out of there.

As of this morning, 0800,we are under a hurricane watch on the coast. Inland, tropical storm watch.
Hopeing there is not alot of intensification once it comes over Cuba/Keys. They are talking 8-10" of rain for us here in SW Fla. (Naples). On my way for extra shavings, barn I know will be fine, its the blowing rain in the stalls. Wish us luck. We could use the rain, but not the wind !!

Those of you needing a stable inland, but not out of state...
Check with Westgate River Ranch - not sure if they still do outside boarding or not, but it's worth looking into. They are off of US Hwy 60, on the Kissimmee River, on the Polk county side of the Polk/Osceola line. (I don't have their number anymore, though, sorry.) The outlaying pastures and lands were flooded with Jeanne, but they took Charley and Francis okay. All three barns withstood the hurricanes with only shingle damage after Jeanne on the main barn. The stalls remained above water and dry. It's at least a safe barn to get into inland if need be.

She said expected land fall less than an hour from them. Tells me a time there.
I know where she lives. Faye is just now at the Keys and not expected to make land fall until tomarrow.

I think she means in distance not time. Landfall "distance wise" less than a hour away. We are on the "bad" side (East side). We are hoping very little strengthening between Cuba-Keys-Fla. They are expecting at Cat 1 hurricane at landfall ... of which is still up-in-the-air. We are gearing for TS weather. My barn is secure. Took a Cat 3 with no issues. Its an open air barn (typical Fla barn> so there will be free flow of the wind and the rain. The horses will get wet from the blowing rain, but they will survive and they do have access to go outside if they wish. I normally keep bare rubber mats in their stalls, but I am putting shavings in their stalls to absorb the rain. They are expecting the weather to go down hill starting Monday afternoon, brunt of the storm in the evening thru the mid morning Tues. Just keep us in your prayers.

I am ready, we are under a tropical storm watch in Broward county......They are still uncertain where it is going but expect it to be a hurrican by the time it reaches Florida, if it wobbles a llittle to the west or east it changes everything. We will just have to wait and see. My barn made it through a Cat 3 with no problem so we should be fine, will just have water in the paddocks and pasture. If there is anything I cn do for anyone let me know. I have some empty stalls if anyone in Dade or Broward needs stalls.
