Ever been to ....

The yearly camout at the Fla Boys Ranch in Live Oak ?? Its the first weekend in Oct. My g/f goes every year and she wants me to go this year w/ her. She said its alot of fun, tons of people, vendors (food, tack, feed, etc) Primitive camping but you can run a generator and there is a bath house with pottys and showers (very nice facilities too she said). Need panels or port fencing for your horses. Alot of nice riding. Games on horseback all weekend. Nightly dinners with dancing and bands. Its in Oct so the weather should be a little cooler up in N. Fla (or am I wishful thinking ?? )

Anyone ever been ?? I really want to go, sounds like alot of fun.

Any input from anyone ??

She is suppose to send me a website, but she hasn't yet.

When I get more info from her, I will post it. HT get-together ??

Yep, been there done that It can be hot or cold, just depends... Barrel racing and running games. It's a major fund raiser for the Florida Sheriffs' Youth Ranches. Nice property to ride, but a real mix of people. A few too many of the kind that I don't think need to have horses

Thanks for the input. My g/f really wants me to go. I just don't want to drive 5-6 hrs and with the price of gas ........... If I was wanting to make the trip, I would go to mcnulleys or spirit suwannee and spend a week or so. Appreciate the input.

Here' the link to McCulley's. You can go any time to camp, but they have a "jam" in the fall and spring. It's really fun because they do all the cooking and all we have to do is RIDE. Nice barns or you can use portable corrals. Even have sites with electricity

http://www.mcculleyfarms.com/

You can go guided on their rides, or ride your own once you learn the trails. Plus they always split up into fast/slow/gaited groups so that everyone can have what they like. BEAUTIFUL trails that go along the bluffs of the Withlacoochee River.

Its not just a camp out but a horse show and they also have an auction.
If you like being around people, thats the place.
It gets packed.

I work not far from there.

If you want to go some where really fun, come to where I work at.
www.musicliveshere.com

800 acres of trails along the Suwannee River.
Camping, cabins, beach, pool, and music year round.
Lots more to do there as well.

We have horse campers that came in today in rigs that are the ones that cost as much as a house.
We had the Fresian Club there last year.
Also, we have a New Years trail ride where people come from all over.
The Park was featured on Ride Across America.

Spirit of the Suwanee is not far from McCulley's. It's a great place too. Campsites are a little close together, but there's lots of wonderful trails to ride.

Well we go EVERY year, but we run games. Many of the areas Horse Clubs are represented. We are members of 2 riding clubs. I don't ride in it though. People are too competitive. I save my competition for $$$ and usually ride a horse that neede exposure. My kids ride and usually get plaques and we take our horses just to ride around and pleasure. I make it about the kids and our family. You can usually find great deals from the vendors too! You have to go in Wed AM to get shade for your horses though. We get there at 5am and wait for the gates to open, with the camper. There is a Bar B Q on the river (usually $5.00) and the best Chicken and Dumplins you ever tasted free Fri night! There is a dance Fri and Sat pm and Cowboy Church Sun AM. We have tons of friends that go so we all pitch in and cook different nights. It is all what you make of it. We have a blast and it is for a great cause. These boys actually learn responsibilities!
I do have a friend that is going to stay at Spirit of The Suwannee in a cabin and come over for the days. She doesn't want to do the camping thing!
