In need of Orchard Hay

Hello Fellow Floridians..... I am in desperate need of anyone who knows of any feed stores, hay stores etc...that have Orchard Hay. Not orchard/alfalfa, but straight orchard hay. The sweeter smelling the better.

The reason you ask? I have a blind polled hereford heifer that uses her nose and her ears to get around. She is doing well, finally eating from a milk bucket and loves her grain.

We picked her up at an auction, got her through a real bad illness and discovered she was blind, probably as a result of her raging fever. Some friends had orchard hay and she loved it primarily because she could find it using her nose.

Before she turns into a 1200lb cow feeding in a milk bucket, I want to get her used to grazing like a normal cow and this would help get me and her towards that goal.

I am based in Central Florida, but due to her will to live and mine to keep her around, I will travel anywhere in Florida to stock up.

Thanks in advance, STK and Bella.

I haven't been able to find straight orchard for awhile and have resorted to OA. Its about 70/30 Orchard/Alf. I can get you as many bales as you need as I know the supplier. Its pretty and green. Soft and not sticky. $13 bale.

Get youself a horse-n-tack. The July issue should be coming out if not already out in your area. There are always feed stores and stuff in there advertising.

Try this

I live in Palm City, Fl between Fort Pierce and the Palm Beaches. I just bought Orchard hay and only orchard from my hay dealer. She kept repeating that it was only Orchard and no Alfafa and did I still want it. I kept assuring her that I did as I also got a bale of alfafa that I do a 3 to 1 mix with. She's got bales for $12 a bale. I have her phone number if you would like it.

They have straight Orchard at a few places. 19.00 a bale at one and the other has compressed bales, large pasture bales, non compressed bales. They dont deliver that far, but have alot of hay all the time.
