Of a horse/mule rescue in the SW FL area? For approximately 4 weeks now there has been a Molly Mule running the woods in my area. She is scared to death of humans, she will run my fence line at feeding time. I approach her and she bolts. There is tons of green for her to eat, however she is terribly filled with rain rot. If I can catch her I can put her in the round pen.

I have check with the place she was living: The house is abandon.

any ideas ?

Perhaps you could contact your local authorities and they can tranquilize her? I would think they would either take her to a local rescue, or hand her over to you. Either way, best of luck!

Can you try to catch her by luring her with feed?

I have tried with the feed bucket. She runs like hell. watches me from the woods coverage for me to leave then comes for the feed.

About a year ago I called the owner to let him know his Mule was at my farm gate: He came and was pissed off at me and the Mule. I offered to walk the Mule back to his farm(3miles). He refused. He actually got in his truck and tried to run the mule down.

I did call the police, to report him for cruelty.

Needless to say the Mule is terrified of humans at this point. I am trying to win her over to catch her, pen her, and with any luck fine her a home.

Sheh does have a nasty kicking end.

Tricia, you may want to ask Cascy about this mule. She's worked with them her whole life so may have some ideas for you. Poor thing.

Yeah for Trish3Kids to be concerned for this poor loose mule !! In cooperation of our local S.O. Ag unit the mule has been caught and rehomed !!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for everyone help. I am so glad that the Mule is going to a good home, where she will be given proper care and attention. Goodness knows how many others are free range out here.

But now I have a phone number to call of an GREAT Ag Officer. He was right on the Mule hunt, and follwed the Mules fresh tracks.
