AOHA Show - let me see your horses!
We showed Friday night, and Goose did a beautiful job! We didn't place, but it was his first night show and the biggest group of horses and people in one place he had ever seen. He and I both got a little frustrated while standing around waiting, but once he got in the ring he did a fantastic job! Here a couple of pics of us.
![]() ![]() Let me see your show horses from this weekend!

This is the one in Montgomery. There were an estimated 15,000 people there over the course of the three days! It was nuts!

We had a great time and are already looking forward to next spring when our show season starts again.
There is an APHA show in Montgomery next weekend and we have thrown around the ideas of trying to go to it. We will see what this hurricane does and how the rest of the week goes.

Thanks Cameo - we were competing against "real" halter horses, so I didn't expect to place. Goose is not a halter type build, and I was not willing to do the things to make him into something he isn't born to be. We have been showing in halter because it is a good way to get one show broke and the discipline is important, especially with a stallion.
It was an open show, so there were horses and competitors all the way from us (strictly dabblers) to the pros. My horse was clean, clipped, and well-behaved. He was a winner in my book! There were more horses there this year than ever. I think people are showing more smaller, local shows because of fuel prices and ridiculous entry fees for some of the breed shows. It's good because the local show circuit is growing, but also bad because people like us can't really compete at that level. It is a great group of associations and I would recommend them to anyone!

Freedom - keep going back. We felt a little out of place when we first started, but we met some really nice folks and park next to them at just about every show. i will tell you the walking horse people seemed more friendly than the stock horse folks. I don't know why, maybe b/c we weren't the competition.
Watch and meet the president of the club and such. I am sure that you will find some folks to give you a "leg up" so to speak. If not, just head on over to our neighborhood and hang out with us.

He looks great palakida! I used to show AOHA/Gulf Central Assn and went to the state show twice. This has been about 8 years ago though. Competition is much tougher than you'd think for an open circuit!

Thanks Luv - we are proud of him. And boy you are right about the level of competition! It is tough even at that level.
We have really enjoyed it though and have met some great folks. It has been wonderful experience for me and Goose. You should get back into it! It is tons of fun and an affordable way to show!

Thanks everybody!! We are really proud of him. I was hoping some other HTer's would have been at the show and have pics to share, but I guess it was just me and TWHDixieGirl.
Maybe next year we can get together an HT group to go.
