Sorry Cariboo

Hey Cariboo I just want to tell you that I am sorry that you are going through this... I am sorry that you hare having ot put your dog Enzo down. Spend some time with him and love him. Just remember that you are being a very good mommy for considering his needs and overall wellbeing.

I think she has decided to give him some steroids. He can't walk and has some secondary issues, like cushings. The vet wanted to put him down on monday, they are trying a last ditch effort to try to help him. IV steroids, andwhenshe picks himup today I think they are giving him more to try. Enzo is one of her dogs, and he is 11 yo.

UPDATE
Enzo is a Brussels Griffon. Has had "breed" issues all his life. Had spinal compressions in back that causes him to only be able to walk to go to the bathroom and eat. As far as he is concerned, that is ok with him and his wife PeePee the Shih Tzu. They have been together for 11 years. Sometimes on the way to the bathroom he falls and we yell "Leiutenant Dan is down" and then we carry him. On thursday night all 4 legs went down. Spinal compressions are in neck now. He isn't in pain. Long story short, after consulting with the new vet in Alabama, Enzo's old vet in Georgia, and my brother in law (vet in Augusta GA) he is at vet for weekend on a steriod drip. Tech calls all weekend. Starts his oral steroids today. She said last night his chart said "Won't Stand". She said he wasn't eating his dry food, so she gave him wet food. Enzo SHOT UP LIKE A ROCKET! My boy loves to eat like me. So now we are encouraged. PeePee his wife misses him. As long as he has a quality of life we will do what we have to. His vet in Georgia said that his secondary issues, can be lived with. Lots of people have secondary issues. He presents with Cushings, but blood checked at Auburn says not. As long as he can eat and do his business and is not in pain, he is happy to live with his wife on his orthopedic bed. He's not ready to go yet, that you can tell. Trying to stay positive.

I just got through talking to Cariboo on phone, just wanted to say she is in my prayers. All her babies having such a rough time adjusting to this south alabama weather, flies, and lack of good vets!

I will say the one she is seeing now is the best small animal vet I have yet to find...and I should know...Cariboo and I should be sisters with all the off the wall problems our guys seem to get

She goes above and beyond to make sure her critters get the best and I commend her for that. Love ya Cariboo!

Thanks Luvridn for the props!!! As of last night, Enzo is responding to meds. Hopefully will get him home by lunch. The tech told me last night, that Sat. night he rolled in the grass and kept his belly in the air. They don't realize that all's Enzo does is eat, sleep, pp, dodo, stand and roll. He maybe walks 40 steps in a day (on a good day). Even tho that is all he does he's happy as a pig in mud as long as he has his wife by him. Hopefully we will maintain where he is for a while. Will take any time we can have with him, pain free of course. Thanks for all the encouragement and keep up the prayers that he continues to get better. Thanks again!
