I need some help - rope gelding needs a new home

My 17yr old rope horse has been at my dad's since Goose has come into his own. He is AQHA registered and a full uncle to Goose on his dam's side. He is the reason we bred to get Goose.

He is a true 16hh and is a powerhouse! He is perfectly healthy and sound - no problems except he had developed an intense dislike for one of my dad's mares, meaning he has to go.

He will need a tune up because he is in pasture condition, but he will make an excellent youth horse because of his years of training and experience. There is very little he hasn't seen or done;however, he is not for a beginner. He is a big powerful horse and has been one of the few equine loves of my life.

I want him placed in a home where he will be ridden and enjoyed. I am not going to price him or put out a general ad because money is not my primary concern. He is very special and has been an incredible horse to me and my family. I don't want to give him away. I find people are sometimes more willing to take care of something they paid for than something that was given to him, but having him happy and cared for is my ultimate goal.

I would love to have him - but Pat would kill me..

We sold a horse like that - only he was younger - two years ago for friends of ours.. for $5000.. We had over 12 people want him within a week.. They hand picked who he went to..

I bet you could find him a home that same way... Maybe check out local saddle or roping or 4-H type clubs to find him the home and young person that would fit him best..

I am just so upset about the whole thing! I tried to get my dad to let me move him a year ago, that way I would have had time to try and get him placed. I feel like I am under the gun and I don't want to make a mistake with him.

Thanks for the support - if you know of anyone who might be interested, please send them my way!

I sure will.. I wish we still roped.. I would love to have him here..

PM robertsquarters as well.. she knows quite a few good people who might like him - she is really involved in the local saddle club with her grandkids.. She is pretty fussy about where her horses go as well.

I will keep my ears open.. he sounds fantastic.

Have you found a home for him yet? Is he like this with all mares or just the one?

He is still at my dad's. It is the strangest behavior. I have no idea why he chooses certain horses to dislike, and he only does it at random times. My dad turned him back out yesterday after giving him a "time out" away from the rest of the herd. He was fine. He never even backed his ears at the mare he was doing his best to kill 24 hrs earlier.

I have no idea why he does this, but if I were going into a tough situation - he is the one I would want with me.

If you want some additional info -I will be glad to answer any quesitons I can. Just PM me and I'll give you my email & we can go from there.

I joined long enough to say thank you for giving me the chance to take this great horse home to enjoy for the rest of his life.

He is going to be a knock around horse for us.

Thank you for having faith in me.

I cant wait to pick him up on the way home.

Yes, we finalized it this evening.
Thank you Val.
Poco leaves after the foal is weaned and Bonnie with have a foal, so we only have one horse to ride and now two.
Him and CB can grow old together and be buried one day next to Possum.

I am tickled to death about Rodeo going to Snickers. He has been a wonderful animal for us and I know that he will be happy and taken care of.

Thanks to all the Horsetopia family for helping us get this worked out!

Snickers can't take him right now. You know sometimes life gets in the way.

So, Rodeo is still available, but we will not be giving him away. If you know of someone who would like to talk to me about him, send them my way.

Thanks so much!!

I am sorry Sam.

The rear end in my truck went out with the last load from AR., and we have to get it fixed and not sure when we will be able to get Rodeo.

I was looking so forward of owning this horse and getting him here.

Who ever gets him is getting a jam up horse.

If I didnt have bad luck, I would have no luck at all.

Again, I am sorry Sam. I pray whom ever gets him will love him and take great care of him until he cross' over.
