We are selling a Big Horn that we got with our QH mare (who is now geriatric!) years ago and rarely use. It has been estimated to be a 1960s model, with an elephant-ear cantle. It has intricate tooling in the leather throughout the saddle, including the pommel, cantle, skirt, fenders, and stirrups. It would come with a girth; I don't know the size, but it is a string-girth in good condition, we won't use it for anything.
It does need some repairs, and I will be very forthcoming. There is a hole in the seat. As far as our uses, it has not hindered us in anyway. We use it for pony rides and the occasional beginner, and have a SeatSaver and that eleviates that issue. If one wanted to use the saddle for trails, a SeatSaver would eliminate the issue there as well. For shows, it would need to be repaired or replaced. Also, the fleece underneath needs attention. Being HuntSeat brat, the concept of fleece underneath the saddle is a bit confusing, we always use a saddlepad, so it has never really posed a problem either.
We are open to all reasonable offers. I have been told that the saddle was a nice one in its day, originally priced between $400 and $600. We do understand that it may need repair, and have been given a large range of quotes on the repair. So, again, all reasonable offers will be considered.
If we were a more all-purpose riding facility, and had a horse that the saddle fit, we would consider keeping it; but we have too much tack and too little storage room as it is. Thanks for looking!
