moving to Alabama

hey all, we're moving to Ala in April, how many Bamahorses do we have in here? We're buying a small farm in the Pintlala area, near Casey's livestock/grain mill. I've been talking to a couple of folks on the Ala Horse Council too. Know anything about the Heart of Dixie ride, and the McCurdy Plantation ride? Do you guys have any Cowboy obstacle challenges..and will be looking for Open shows between AQHA and Palomino shows..thanx[used to live in Millbrook when little girl, my Dad's hometown is Montgomery.

I love the Heart of Dixie Ride. Even just going there and camping and riding is great. Very nice people, very nice trails and very nice barn, arena, salt water pool, etc. It is great.

I don't know where in Al you will be, but there is an Extreme Trail Challenge in North Georgia every other month. That might be similar to the cowboy obstacle course you are looking for!

I live in west central alabama, Fayette county. Just wanting to say welcome. We are just now getting into showing some, and havent been on any organized trail rides to date. But, always glad to welcome another horse lover. If I can be of any help let me know.

my husband's job is in Montgomery, and we are working on buying in the Pintala area, there are alot of equestrian properties around there, and the land is good for horses. The place we are pursuing has a barn, and set up for horses already.

Congrats on your property! We are on the east side of the state near Auburn (about 45 minutes from Montgomery.)

If you are looking for open show opportunities, we have the Alabama Open Horseman's Association. It is made up of local saddle clubs all over the state. We are just getting started, so are by no means expert. But, we have enjoyed our experience so far with the East Alabama Association. I attached a link below. It has links to the local clubs schedules and such.

I know there is a palomino show in Montgomery in May. I hope we are going to make that one. Maybe we will see you there!
