spoiled chicken

so we wanted to go more organic or whatever and bought 8 chicks for the eggs eventually. We wanted them to be free range but built a roost and pen. However, we left the gate open during the day so they could wander. We lost one every other day until one day we lost 4 I don't know how I was outside all day. Anyway so there was one left and I found it sharing my horses grain. When it saw me it ran to me squawking. I was surprised b/c they weren't real friendly before. So my husband kind of adopted this chicken and named it chicken. We were determined to let it grow up without getting eaten. So he put it in a dog kennel on our porch. Now it follows me around with the dogs when i feed and stands on my feet. It likes to try and poke at my husbands mole on his foot. Tonight I realized just how spoiled it is now when it followed me up the porch and tried to come in the house with me. I closed the door but the blinds were open so it could see in and it start tapping on the door and squawking! My husband carries it around and lets it jump up on his lap. My great dane is scared of it b/c it jumps on his head from the porch and scares the poor guy. Is this typical chicken behavior?
