the goat hates it here

RRIIIIIIGGHHTT

Flippin thing was actually snoring

We are though, having an issue with the dogs. 3 won't stop chasing her not out of hunt instinct, they just want to play but are far too rough. I have been stalling her at night but don't like that as she is very sociable and does hang with the horses when no one is around. I was told yesterday that my colt body slammed one of the dogs when she went at her

That is just way too cute! Snoring!?!?

Maybe you'll need to get more goats so that there will be strength in numbers and the dogs will leave them alone? How long have you had it? Maybe it'll just take time for all of them to get used to each other and settle down.

she'll get fed up with the dogs and hopefully her horns will not go threw them, like our one goats did to one of our sheep, needless to say, we had to put it down. Goats are awsome though, they have just as much personailty as horses and dogs. I couldn't imagine NOT having any. She looks like she's a big lover.

Our thought is goats and dogs (unless they are bred to be LGDs) do not mix. The dogs even if they are playing have a tendency to play far to rough and/or will run them until they die.

JMO though

How cute. I don't know anything about goats. Didn't reallize they have personalities like dogs.

I would love to get one...mostly to eat all our brush...here's a question...do the coyotes go after them? Would I have to stall it at nigh or could I leave it outside with the dogs? Do they ever get potty trained? If they had access to an indoor room...we actually have an unattached converted garage (with carpet and furniture) would a goat ruin it? Would it eat the furniture and boxes?

I've only had her a few days and things are fine. Had to seperate some of the dogs but it really hasn't been that bad. I have noticed that one of the 3 tormentors is very prtective of her and won't let any other dog around her. She is the only one "aloud" to do that to her . As of today, things are much much better and all have played nice without any issues.

To answer your questions I think it depends on what your place is like. I have coyotes but with 5 big dogs and some agressive horses I have no problems with them coming close so I will be keeping her outside but within the corral not the yard. As I stated earlier I have a doggie run in on the barn so they all have access to it whenever they feel like it and she has not tried to distroy anything in my barn. Maybe I lucked out but she's a very well behaved little girl she just NEEEEDS to be around people first then she'll head off to the horses.

Actually we do have a fenced in area where we keep the dogs when we're not home. But we have been allowing the dogs to use that extra room as their "dog house". Of course it's supposed to be my husband's office...but we won't go there. When we are home everyone has the run of the acreage. I guess the coyotes stay away as a result of our dogs too...come to think of it.

Hmmmmmm.... thinking thinking
